The man is quality….. Brings a real composure to the team and barely ever gives away possession.

May not get all the headlines with tricks, flicks, dribbles and goals but he looks really up for it this season and ended last season as one of our best players.

Really classy and a good organiser for the midfield. Speaking to a Chesterfield fan coming out last night who picked him out as something they were missing in their team.

Really don’t know why he is transfer listed?

Important player for us in league 2 this season, especially if we are looking to play from the back, he is the link and the ‘outball’ for the defence.

Couldn't agree more pal. I do think that the reason he's on the transfer list isn't an on the pitch reason but to do with the pfa episode him, paynter and Curle had last season

Curle will give him another chance now that other "Chancer" has gone. GD made a mistake by siding with BP IMO

Well played Dicker last night -class

Id still expect him to be dropped on saturday and Kennedy and Joyce restored to the side. If we dont win itll be the first chance for the Curle out boys to berate him.

Joyce is quicker, covers more ground and gets about the pitch more to protect the back 3. I think Joyce will work better away from home, but in games where we're predominantly on the front foot and have the oppo penned back in their own half, Dicker's the man to have.

Balanta and McQueen have also given the manager something to think about.

Yep i know its only one game but it does look like Curle has assembled a decent squad. Weve gone from not having a right back for 5 years to looking like weve got 2 decent ones at the same time.

Tin hat on and duck for cover on this one...

Dicker playe very well yesterday in the first half and when we were going forward. However, defensively he got caught out a few times. As previously mentioned he isn't that mobile and therefore his positioning needs to be spot on which it wasn't. It probably wasn't highlighted as Chesterfield didn't take advantage of the occasions.

I would definitely play Joyce there on Saturday due to his mobility but would maybe consider Dicker over Kennedy to play alongside him.

Dicker has to play in my opinion cool calm and assured on the ball , let's forget last seasons rubbish and move forward , we look to be assembling a decent squad, so let's hope the good times are rolling back to bp , the fans so deserve it

Sorry but as good as he was last night, last season overall he was woeful and that is just my opinion!

There's a quality player there but he's been nowhere near consistent enough to merit the decent wage he probably receives so rightfully transfer listed IMO.... maybe it's rejuvenated him? Maybe he'll go on to turn in top class displays every week but I would not agree to Curle being called an idiot for him being transfer listed on the back of last seasons displays!

Would think that it needs to be Hery plus two. He appears to be the one that's tricky on the ball and more creative than the others - I think we'd lose more not having him in the team than one of the others.

Wouldn't drop Hery personally for him, if he plays as well as he did last night consistently then he could easily displace Joyce..... What it has highlighted is that Curle has good depth to his squad and appears to be getting the best out of players which is easier said than done.... Transfer listed players at that!

In certain games maybe. But on Saturday for example Hery is one of the first names on the team sheet for me.

As the season unfolds, could be a trio worth picking in certain games? Or possibly if we reverted to a flat back 4 for some games?

I think its good that weve got options and whilst id imagine wed let him go if someone comes in for him at least hes been given a chance to make his mark. I dont think theres much chance for many of our other transfer listed players. I gave Curle a clean slate to start the season unlike a lad i was talking to before the game who called him a W***er for making 5 changes already. So far im reasonably impressed.

The thing I like about this system, is the 5 at the back seem to know what they're doing. The shape of the other 5 players we have a bit of freedom to mix and match depending on the opposition.

It is good to have the choice of any 3 of the above mentioned 4. Unlike one of the posts above ( and of course it is all a matter of personal opinion ) I thought Dicker did really well in the last few games and he and Kennedy were one of the main reasons we managed to stay up.

I'd like to see Curle give Dicker a public vote of confidence and take him off the list and say he is part of his plans but somehow I doubt if that will happen.

That would involve an admission he was wrong, so highly unlikely. Even I'd give him credit if he did so!

Fair play to the lad for being a pro and performing well when asked to do so, despite being told he's available for transfer.

Just what O'Hanlon and Sweeney did last season. Surely as a pro you'd want to make the most of any opportunity you get on the pitch, even if it's just to catch another manager's eye? Doing his job, nothing more, nothing less in my mind.

You could always play all three of them and them with Hery in a floating role in front of them and just behind Jabo. Perosnally I think we pass the ball much better as a unit when Dicker is in the team. Even towards the end of last season, despite all of the issues with Curle, he was starting to play really well. Draw a line under last year, get him off the transfer list and start to get him involved regularly.

The best player at the club.

Brilliant at home with a good pitch, can kill a nervy situation at the back and sways his body to send half they're team in the wrong direction. Level-headed and a role model I reckon, get him off the transfer list. With him, Joyce, Kennedy and Hery this is our strongest central midfield since the year we nearly reached the League 1 play-offs.

Wouldn't necessarily be an admission he was wrong at all Danny. What if Curle was right to transfer list him due to poor attitude and application last season but due to him knuckling down and acting like a professional footballer should Curle is prepared to give him a second chance? Just a thought like

Thought he done OK last night, decent on the ball moving it well from side to side, made a few decent challenges. But there were too many times when the opposition picked up the ball on the halfway line and carried the ball to the edge of our box without a challenge being made, which should have been Dicker's job in that 3 man midfield.
Need Joyce back in there on Saturday alongside Kennedy and Hery.

When Dicker was in position he did make some really good well timed tackles to be fair, but you're right, Joyce is more mobile so can cover that area better defensively. No doubt Dicker is a better passer though, there's room for both in the squad it just depends what we need more in a particular match.

If he did take him off after a few more performances like last night, it would be a good message to send out to the likes of CMW and others who've under performed last season. Knuckle down, act professional, get back in the team and take your chance, and you'll be rewarded for it.

What people haven't mentioned yet was in the first half last night it was Hery who was the deepest of the three with Balanta&Dicker; playing ahead of him and Hery did a good job at that until he and Dicker switched for the second half and that is when Dicker came more into the game. I wrote on here in pre-season i thought Dicker was the best MF at the club and he played a vital role in keeping us up last season towards the back end of the season. Not sure that is the case now as Hery has really impressed me so far and he looks like he's got a bit of everything. If he can bag a few goals we could well make 50K come the end of January!

We have some really good options now but do you know what the really good thing is, I know it's only been two games but we have not missed Dempsey at all.

Dicker was a stand out last night in my opinion, i think he struggled last season at times because the style of play that we were employing just wasn't his game, he's not a player who will flourish in a team who just lumps the ball up the pitch, but he's excellent and getting the ball down and picking out a pass, so he was much more at home in our side last night, he's a great player to have around right now i think, as long as his head is in the right place, i think we should 100% keep him.

Dicker is far too slow, no way should he be ahead of Hery, Joyce or Kennedy.

Maybe Barrow will take him off our wage bill?
Think he might do OK in conference

Isn't it nice to be able to argue over which midfielders should be playing because we have what seems to be such a decent selection? A world away from last season, and mainly down to Curle's summer recruitment.

The first round of the Capital Cup is an important game for the Club and against quality opposition, as last eve, surely KC put out a considered 'winnable' team. Thus, being worthy of the place last night and playing well in recent encounters, he ought to stay.
I dare say previous grievances between KC and Dicker are an issue but one would think he would be a valuable member of a squad rotation as KC is appearing to adopt. In any event Dicker's professionalism has been exemplary and full respect to him

I thought Dicker was solid last night. Contra to some comments he can do a good job in this league hopefully for us.
Kavs incompetence a lack of starts and a lack of any experience next to him last season is what I'd put his performances down to.
I can't comment on Joyce I haven't seen him play yet.

it's a contrast to last season playing from the back but there are times when we need to lump it long especially with a beast like Ibere up top.
