TheCumbrians @footballon5 @officialcufc Unreal save from @markjgillespie initially, highlights didn't show the superb 2nd half save either. #cufc

The pitch is a pleasure to see when I visit BP but I cant decide whether it is an asset, especially in Div 4. Don't get me wrong I would not wish it changed for then world. Would be interested in others thoughts.
Ps My Dad used to say that the Wembley turf (of former times obviously) was the same as the Carlisle pitch being that it was Solway Turf? Was that one of his tall stories? Wanted to ask that for ages

Wembley and Brunton Park were the only places that used Solway Turf. It is too soft for professional football but back in the late 50s early 60s, that's what was used.

So him saying that he played for Carlisle in the 50s must be true as well. Still doubt that one.

The rumour down at Workington Reds was that it was always Wembley turf also. Maybe it's a Cumbrian thing.

Wembley's pitch is now 'Desso Grassmaster Hybrid Turf'.

Solway turf was used up until they knocked down the twin towers.

I thought they stopped using Solway turf way back in the mid sixties when Wembley started hosting the Show Jumping. Again, the turf was too soft for that and, I understand, a certain Princess Anne used her influence to get it changed.
