TOPIC: Reaction to Joyce mistake

Just to say it was nice to see Raynes and two others (Possibly Miller & Kennedy) giving him encouragement after his mistake, easy to point the finger at him and possibly his head will go down

But we need to cut these mistakes. That's 2 against Preston in pre season, 2 today. I'm all for playing out from the back, it's good to watch, but it's not good having a midfielder on the edge of his own box, facing his own goal trying to turn. It's suicidal however good you are.

Credit to Joyce I thought he battled well 2nd half and was still supporting players and moving into space.

As I mentioned on the player ratings thread this constant passing about at the back is absolute overkill. It is fine to mix it up a bit but Cambridge were obviously prepared for it, put us under pressure in our third of the pitch and forced mistakes. We have an outstanding striker who can hold the ball up well and so we can afford to mix it up a bit. At times Grainger looked terrified with the ball at his feet. Gillespie looks a bag of nerves and there were times when his decision making was poor regarding coming out to claim balls, perhaps because the style unsettles him. Just a thought.

Also a lot of the time after we've passed it about at the back we often ended up playing a long ball thus by passing Kennedy and Hery in midfield because Cambridge had pressed us.

Its a work in progress and better to watch and given time hopefully better in execution..

Its a totally different philosophy and needs time
