A phrase often used this time of year after a nice short trip, "Back home in daylight".

Today however, we're back home in tomorrows daylight but no nice sunrise to greet us back in Cumbria, more heavy cloud and lack of brightness, mimicking the mood of tired acceptance that we were well beaten.

Not sure what went wrong. In the first half we were on top, the home crowd was decidedly restless as we consistently won the ball back and looked dangerous.
In the second half we folded, much in the way Carlisle teams have folded over recent years, once one went in we looked terribly vulnerable. The fight back which had been so noticeable in the last two games just wasn't there and it wasn't a case of would we pull it back, it was how many are they going to get.

A late consolation goal, though welcome, meant little after the humiliation that went before.

Only time will tell whether this is a blip as a new team gels together or whether we can look forward to another season of disappoinment. Please, please let it be the former.

Lastly before I crawl into a darkened room for an hour or so; for goodness sake Carlisle players get some decent footwear!! This is the second match running where slips have cost goals and players have had trouble keeping their feet. Tonight as the game went slip-sliding away it was noticeable the Plymouth players didn't have the same problem, it was just the boys in blue who turned into bambi on ice.

Was going to post last night and held off.
A comment on radio or Jon Colmans twitter feed said everybody in the carlisle side was wearing fancy coloured boots. Have they all been wearing blades, trying to play passing football as at home last week?
Have we been caught out and they have done the homework prior to the game?
Heavy watering of the PA pitch before kick off and Bumble's comment of only our boys sliding everywhere.
Dont like excuses but have we been set up and the PA players all wearing proper old fashioned studs?
First game of the season for me and 4 others this Saturday. Lets get the train back on the rails and forget last night.

How can we have been set up?

The players are allowed to wear whatever they like as far as I'm aware.

We haven't been set up for god's sake... they are perfectly entitled to heavily water the pitch, as long as the referee deems it playable. It is the same for both teams... if we have been caught out then it is nothing more than piss poor preparation. Players usually take at least a couple of pairs of boots to the games to allow for different surfaces. Had both teams been falling over then we could complain about it... as they didn't have any issues it is nothing more than a massive excuse.

Grainger, who wouldn't be in my side on merit, has one of the reasons he is in there as being a fantastic captain apparently. How come we fold so easily last season and this game if he is then?

I'm afraid this will keep happening and will not be a blip until we get some decent defenders in there.

I liked this bit in the comments section underneath

Kevin, Nottingham, United Kingdom, about 4 hours ago

I thought Keith Curle was the worst manager we had ever had at Notts County. But, to be fair, we've employed 3 even worse ones since then. So Carlisle fans, you may have Keith Curle as manager but at least you don't have Ray Trew as chairman.

Any chance I can put a claim in after I got yam about 6AM when we were at QPR five years ago or the time I went to Plymouth and it took nine and half hours to get there after someone's caravan tipped over on the motorway.

Part&Parcel; of being a Carlisle fan i should think and we've all done it.

We should all lobby the FL for compo.

Wonder if I can put a claim in for getting off our mini bus from a Tuesday night game at Barnet having a cuppa then getting in the car and going on to work on mornings. Or maybe when due to a mix up my seat in a car was given to Les Edmondson so I drove down on my own. Or the time.............you get the idea.
