I was on the coach & spoke to the journalist. Nice guy who really got the Carlisle fans. Great article which captures the trip perfectly.

I agree. Unless we'd taken Real Madrid to extra time and ran out of steam and lost 4-1, or some other exceptional circumstance like that, there's no chance I'd stand and applaud a 4-1 defeat, however well we'd played in the first half.

I can honestly say I didn't see anyone there who was happy with a 4-1 defeat.. Some fans clapped at the end of the game others didn't but I didnt see anyone who was happy with the result.

Fans shook players hands at the end but it wasn't a happy clappy sort of thing. To me it seemed more that the players were taking responsibility for not playing well in the second half and thanking the fans for supporting. Only my opinion of course but it wasn't like a celebration at all.

The reporter I thought did a good job of reporting the day. He grew up supporting a lower league club (still does but his job gets in the way nowadays) so had a bit more understanding of how things work at our level.

Where's the warning that the artical contained photos that may prove disturbing

I suggested greeters for away support 2 years ago. I emailed club but no reply.

This is exactly why the club need more fans involved with ideas and a willingness to listen and implement them. They only have a small staff and the club are far to insular.
Lummy/RC/supporters groups etc are trying to make this happen. Nice to see some at the club evolving ams trying to work as one.

Were those that were singing 'Danny Grainger plays for Carlisle with Jabo Ibhere' on that bus cause if they were it can't have been mild mannered ( unless they were all asleep or dead from alcoholic poisoning). Bloody raucous lot. Loved the hunting horn player(s) though.

At the Etihad it was for home support, or at least the one I was watching was in the home area. I suppose Man City have grown a big fanbase very quickly and it's something they maybe started when the moved from Maine Road.

I do think it's a good idea at Brunton Park. The ground doesn't have to be intimating for fans before the game to be a fortress. Surely that's more about performing on the pitch and making noise in the stands when the game is on. Yes, I know, I know, but that's a whole different topic.

When away fans travel a long way to our ground, bringing money through the turnstiles I don't see any problem in being helpful and pleasant to them before the match. The days of jumping in a mini bus, sitting on a bear crate and piling out at an away ground in sheepskins coats is long gone and many away fans come as a family and hope for facilities that make things reasonably comfortable at the ground. . . many are disappointed!

I think there is also plenty of work meeter and greeters could do in the home end. I'm frequently asked questions about the ground, from where such and such stand is, to when the ground was built, the history of it, which bus to town centre, where can you get a taxi. Would be good to have some one official who fans can ask.

BB, they were the 9 lads on the minibus I think. Got to Plymouth about 4pm so would've had a good few hours on the ale, and had been drinking since about 8am. Credit to anybody who does that kind if journey for a Tuesday night game!

I was at the game and didn't clap the team off ( everyone has their own way of showing support) However I did support them the full 90 minutes as I do most games, it is up to the individual supporter how they react to a result. I will be cheering as usual in B stand today & if we win I will applaud them off as usual.
