Went to two of the away games in the 70s ,horrible place to go then, remember being in a pub on the corner with loads of Carlisle fans when bricks started coming through the windows, police came shut the pub and ushered us out to the waiting hoards of scoucers.Attacked all the way until we reached Anfield ,then a running battle inside the Anfield road end. After the game chaos again has we slowly made our way back to the hundreds of coaches parked up about a mile away..
Sounds scary. Was it like that at every game at Liverpool in those days or do you think they pushed the boat out because we were 'new'?
I was born in 74 and started going on 80. It was bad in the 80s too. I remember the 1989 game vividly. Their fans were climbing over fences to get in for nothing at the waterworks end. Loads of trouble that day too.mainly from the Liverpool fans.
