TheCumbrians @J4ck_C0u51n Thought the same thing earlier, there was a time when he'd go ballistic every time they scored.
TheCumbrians @J4ck_C0u51n No - and he didn't react much to Paynter putting them 2-1 up either. Seemed to expect it coming to be honest.

Did anyone on here go to this match. I have an older mate who remembers it being a bit scarey after the match coming out. A great defensive display by the blues applauded by the Kop!! Any memories?

My dad took me on the football special train. Sitting in the main stand looking over at the anfield road end watching the few thousand Carlisle fans getting pushed & squashed further across the terracing with all sorts getting chucked at them was a sight.
It looked like hell on earth. The journey on the bus from the train station was horrendous, full of pick pocket's & ne'er do well's with a background of blocks & blocks of knocked down terraced houses.
Apart from that it was a great game against a front line of Keegan & Toshack.

A few of us went in the paddock and watched a majestic display of defending by Chris Balderstone who played in the back 4. Spent the night in Liverpool and went to the Everton WBA game on the Sunday - also 0-0. We were the only team in any competitions that season that stopped Liverpool from scoring at home.

Went to two of the away games in the 70s ,horrible place to go then, remember being in a pub on the corner with loads of Carlisle fans when bricks started coming through the windows, police came shut the pub and ushered us out to the waiting hoards of scoucers.Attacked all the way until we reached Anfield ,then a running battle inside the Anfield road end. After the game chaos again has we slowly made our way back to the hundreds of coaches parked up about a mile away..

Sounds scary. Was it like that at every game at Liverpool in those days or do you think they pushed the boat out because we were 'new'?
I was born in 74 and started going on 80. It was bad in the 80s too. I remember the 1989 game vividly. Their fans were climbing over fences to get in for nothing at the waterworks end. Loads of trouble that day too.mainly from the Liverpool fans.

Yep, parked the car and a laal scouser offered to look after it for 50p. Having told him to fk off an old scouser explained the parking arrangements to me. Half a quid well spent and lesson learned, country bumkin or what!
