TOPIC: A Loser

Well I was one of those who applied for the fans Rep but obviously failed to be selected for the final four. My name is John Kukuc I hope this doesn’t come over as being bitter, because this is not the intention of my post, just my honest experience and appraisal of my experience.
I was very very disappointed not to be selected as I considered myself eminently well qualified to carry out the role. But the selection committee considered others were more worthy and having read their comments on here I now realise, as if I didn’t already know, there are some very committed Carlisle United supporters who want to contribute to the success of the club we all love.

I will admit, which I didn’t state on my application that I am a Board member of CUOSC. I joined The Trust 2 years ago to support the club in any small way I could. I do believe there is a role for supporters in contributing to the success of a “Community” club. And a Fan’s Rep on the Executive Board, in my opinion, can only help. But I don’t know how anyone one of them can achieve anything in isolation.

They need us to support them and for us to make a difference.
I will vote, although I haven’t made my mid up yet. And whoever wins I will give them my support.

I have been told that. And you're probably right. So I'll sit in the background & help. But that doesn't mean I won't criticise but in, hopefully, a constructive way.

Your role within the trust probably scuppered your chances, and it probably would have if you were selected in the final 4.
And although you're trying not to you do sound very bitter, unlucky anyways.

Yes you're were possibly right Melbourne initially about being bitter. But you have to move on.
As for The Trust I don't think so., I never mentioned it. Just a poor application or should I say there were better applications.

However I don't believe Lumsdon's comments on here about wanting the Fan's Rep to be totally independent of the club were helpful for harmony. You don't have to be an "outsider" members of "The Trust" have regularly challenged the club, and they are still doing so over a very public matter.
But in life to make progress you have to engage with all.......even those on here I disagree with.

The club have to appreciate their fans more and I think they are trying. But they have only a few staff and when things like Liverpool arise they have to devote their time to that. Probably that's why I haven't received a reply saying I was unsuccessful.

It is the little things that can make a difference.

Bad luck on the application front but as a member of the trust thingy board you and your fellow board members don't appear to be doing enough to take the custodians to task over the whole Lapping/billionaire fiasco.

Hard luck Flume blue, I know you are very passionate about the club and would have worked tirelessly for the cause.

I do think you are right that you missed out because of your affiliation with the trust. I seriously considered standing, would have loved trying to make a difference but knew very well that a lot of people still connect me with the club although I don't work for them, and some people at the club see me as a trouble maker, so it was really a non starter

So that said all I can do is throw my weight behind the winning candidate (not as much as previously but still quite a solid mass) and offer help when I can. It will take many more than one person to even start getting fans more involved and more valued and I am sure there will be things to do that everyone who wants to can help out with.

So far I have been really impressed with the three candidates on here. Great pity we don't have the other one, if anyone knows him, please ask him to join us. One of the biggest tests for the successful candidate will be to get the doubters and mavericks on board with them and that includes you and I

To be honest, you don't deserve to be in the final 4, let alone elected, if you think that hiding your strong association with the trust is the right way to go about things. How are people meant to believe you will be an open and honest representative of the fans if you do something like that?

John, no problem you disagreeing pal, it was just a personal view, no right or wrong.

Without going into details on here or the full ins and outs, I didn't vote for you because of something you said at the meeting you invited myself,Colman and James Phillips to when you wanted to rebrand the trust.

You explained your relationship with the Jenkins family and grand kids so I just thought you getting the position would put you between a rock and a hard place. The other candidates didn't have that barrier and I felt they could and would challenge if needed whole heartedly.

I know you are very passionate and I'm sure you would have done a good job, but as you have mentioned there were candidates with excellent credentials too.

Flumeblue, one the benefits of a forum is trying to judge people by the content of there post's. So from this, I have to say I'm pleased you did not get the vote, because you sound like a bitter s**t stirrer.

And, more importantly, anyone who uses the word 'eminently' can't be trusted.......

I didn't hide my Trust allegiance I haven't on here. My application was brief. And I did believe there was an interview to come. And anyone who knows me is aware that I will speak my mind honestly. When I was young probably bluntly. That's why I've given my name. But today I'm hopefully wiser. Now my hope is we all come together together to help the club to better times. And for that we desperately need to attract young supporters.

No not bitter I was disappointed Silentstone. And honest. As I've said I'll offer support to the successful candidate.Will you?

You said in your original post you kept a very relevant piece of information back from the selection committee. That was bound to be picked up on on here coz everything gets picked up by someone. It was probably naive of you to have mentioned it.

Lummy I will enjoy the game..........if we win. I just hope Dicker plays.

Glad you've come on here saying you applied for the fans board job.
I'm sure you would have done a good job if you'd been elected.
Seen you at some of the CUOSC roadshows and you came across well. However because of your involvement with CUOSC you stood no chance of being elected. Also you did not need to declare that you were a prominent member of CUSOC as I'm sure all those on the selection panel would already know this when they saw your name.

Glad to see that all those who applied are willing to work with the one who is elected as they will need all the help they can get.

I found the rant very bitter and very me me me Flumeblue. It's just the way it came across not sure if it was meant that way.

I also applied, very critically and I didn't expect to get anyway near the final 4 and I'm certainly not bitter.

I also respect the panels decision because they had external people the list of 4 has great people in it.

You should be doing your work for the trust and becoming more involved there as there's no doubting your passion.
