TOPIC: Penalties awarded in the league

I must be wrong but from what I can see on soccerbase we must be the lowest recipient of penalties in League football in recent years

Grainger scored a penalty against Wycombe in February, and i think the total penalties we were awarded last season was 1
Prior to that, the last penalty we scored in the league was Lee Miller on Dec 7th 2013.

You're probably right, we will be one of the lowest recipients of penalties recently, probably because last two years we've hardly had the ball in the opposition box.

Didn't Steve Halifax used to get us a few? Cant remember as i was a kid, but didnt he used to have the ball at his feet in the box, twisting and turning.

Hopefully with this team, we should get a few more this season

Asamoah was fouled in the box just before half time on Saturday, and there was another which could have been given not long before. Both incidents would certainly have been free kicks anywhere else on the field of play, obviously neither were given. I have come to accept that we will get very few penalties, just because of who we are. When you are low down a league you tend to get fewer decisions anyway.

The last time we got a few pens in a season was when we had Ian Harte playing for us. He knew how t get a penalty as well as how to score them.

Harte left in August 2010 and Berrert took duty and scored a few. We got several penalties in 11/12 and 12/13, mainly Lee Miller, but Loy, Cadamarteri & Garner also converted. So for nearly 3yr after he left we were getting plenty...

It's from 13/14 that our droughts begin, a single Noble pen, and 14/15 a single Grainger pen...

I think blatant favoritism took me back the the Harte days, just cos he was a joy to watch take a dead ball.

Berrett also scored a lot of penalties for us.

Harte officially retired a couple of weeks back, heard a good interview with him where he gave a lot of credit to Carlisle for giving him a new lease of life and then for not preventing his move to Reading. 19 goals in 52 league games for us, not many ex-strikers can beat that.
