The lad had a suspended sentence hanging over him which was triggered by this which is why so long. Totally regrets it now n last time I spoke to him just after he changed his plea u was pretty down with realisation of what it meant to him. He was no angel but there is plenty of worse people around

Sounds like a fair sentence then and hopefully he'll be a reformed character when he's served his time.

Sorry but if you do the crime, expect to do the time. He punched a lass to the ground, i'd of given him longer. Absolute zero sympathy.

Don't know full story of events but had it happened a few hours later and wasn't classed as football violence id guess at it being a lot less of a sentance

Not so sure on that one Matt.
To run across the road and spark out an innocent woman, along with a couple of other blokes, then do a runner.

Read comments on facebook earlier (public page) from some who claimed to have been there, and reckon events didn't happen exactly as the media reported them.

What??
The News And Star not reporting a story accurately?
Surely not.??

I stand corrected if this is the case Matt.

Exactly. You were saying that he'd ran across the road and deliberately hit the woman.

As I say don't know full ins and outs of it but it would of been less if it wasn't tagged as football violence. N Luton fans were not innocent that day either.

"Several members of the public saw Miss Yenilmez being assaulted"

A character reference was produced in support of Campbell, who was represented in court by Rosalind Emley-Smith.

“What is clear is that Carl Campbell really does represent the tale of two men,” she said. “When sober, it is perfectly clear he is a loving father and a diligent, hard-working man. In drink, he is capable of offences such as these.”

"He later told officers: “I made a mistake. I will pay the price.”"

The bloke seems to be clear - he hit her. Even his own defence isn't disputing this....why are so many people on here keen to stick up for him?

As an aside, Carlisle are very fortunate to have a Judge as good as Paul Batty.

I seen the person, hit the deck, the following commotion, had no idea that it was a woman who went down, I was coming over the crossing, seen a few Luton shirts about the door way of the Griffin.
But as we we're walking towards train station that lad pictured above was coming back from the train station area trying to avoid the transport police coming out the station.
Penny dropped when I seen this last night.

I seen it all outside the griffin, 2 Luton fans in high spirit singing outside the griffin and the charity worker was with them. He ran from the crossing and through 3 punches hitting them all, Luton fans were just like wtf but the charity worker got the 1st punch which was a running one so more significant. Only thing I know is she had her back to him and he didn't realise she wasn't a Luton fan in his quick attack but she was carrying a collection bucket. he then legged it to the train station and realised loads of police their then ran back, got caught down the road.
No need to go in throwing punches, spoke to the Luton fans after and they were friendly and didn't start back as were just having a quick pint before going home.

So, an unprovoked attack then? Even worse, an unprovoked attack on a woman! Drink is no excuse, if you can't behave in a reasonable manner after having a drink? then don't drink. And before anyone starts the "have you never done anything stupid when drunk" Yes I have, but never violent and never needed arrested or locked up.
Got what he deserved, suspended sentence should run consecutively with a well deserved stretch for this offence. Obviously didn't learn anything from his last court appearance.

Had he not like?
I was stating what most of us know - The News And Star could not print a story accurately if their lives depended on it.
The blokes had a moment of madness full of bravado (and drink probably) and assaulted 3 people. All whilst already serving a suspended sentence.
If it was me that was assaulted I would also want the book thrown at him.

They're hardly helping their "pure dead sound" mate out are they, calling an old fella a nonce and threatening to "break ya jaw cho"!

Anyone defending them's just as bad as stated the d*ckheads floored a bird disgusting and embarassing! They're all the same about 2 brain cells between them.... Obviously the type that go topless in the Warwick and claim to be BCF's finest!
