A message to the directors

Dear Directors,

I'd like to begin this note by saying to you that I have supported Carlisle United as long as I can remember. I'm a young fan - in my 20s - and started supporting the club through family members. I love the club and enjoyed the first years of my support - the 2005/06 league win, the 2007/08 play-off push and the 2011 JPT win. All great and memorable moments. Many fans go further back than me.

In this time I have learnt not to expect the world - we usually won't have the best players, won't have the best ground and won't always win. What I do expect, however, is a commitment to do those things. I want to feel like I belong to something, I want to feel welcomed, I want to feel excited to turn up to the ground. This, for me, is disappearing.

Throughout the pandemic, all of us have made cuts, made sacrifices, done things differently. Football has been my escape. You're welcoming fans back - make them feel welcome. Tell them what there is to look forward to. Tell them your ambition. Tell them why we should come back to the club. The silence is deafening.

You, directors, are not the lifeblood of the club. The fans go beyond that and you are failing. Finances play a big part in football but they do not replace a well run, forward-looking club - see Morecambe and Accrington Stanley. In my time supporting the club we have gone from beating Leeds at Elland Road to losing players to Barrow. Continuity and a well run club? I don't think so.

This is not a 'board out' point but please think about how you take this club forward. This does not cut it. I feel disillusioned and I don't want to. Do something about it because we need it. You are failing and it is time to rethink your approach.

After missing about 6 home games since 1983 I self-imposed a boycott of home games and I haven't been to BP since October 2017. Been to plenty away games though.
Trust me, once you stop going, you find other things to do on a Saturday afternoon and the BOD in charge start to become less irksome.
Instead of physically detesting them as I had done, it's been good for my health not giving a toss about these parasites running the club into the ground.

Give it a go, I fully recommend it, and get yourself to a few more away games for your United fix..

If ever there was a time to appease fans it is going to be around now.
Announcement on ending of lockdown on monday should mean clubs able to firm up plans of getting fans back (even if there are still going to be some restrictions, should know where they stand).
In spite of everything, I expect there will be a drive to welcome fans back, give us some hope and have some more positive news to share.
Most folk have not been able to get to games for 18 months.
There will be plenty of folk not arsed about going, but for others it will be great to be back.
We have all , not through choice, broken the habit of going to matches regularly.
Once normal life fully resumes , there will be lots of alternative forms of entertainment on offer.
Worrying vibes coming out the club at present, please pleasantly surprise us.

I can see a steady stream of announcements if the big ok is given to normal life?

Season Tickets can be firmed up, Kits launched, add in some signings hopefully…

Sadly even in the unlikely event of them reading it, they won’t give a toss. They think they are doing a great job. I saw a clip on Facebook or Twitter the other day of Jenkins actually saying their time in charge has been a success as we got in the playoffs and we played Liverpool in the cup.

If that’s their measure for success then F all is going to change unfortunately. It will probably get worse than losing our players to barrow, they probably don’t even see the shame in that.

When you say "hit them where it hurts" presumably you mean their businesses, because boycotting the games won't bother SP. He thinks supporters are irrelevant anyway.

I thought he was on the board for his sharp wit and top business accumen? No?
