They’ve picked the 15th biggest ground in the division which makes no sense to me, should be one of our home games first as we have some of the lowest Covid levels and a big stadium

Say they have 1500 season ticket holders, they will get first refusal, fair enough.
After that, a free for all? Potential for a few Carlisle fans to get in? (posing as Cambridge fans).
Could you prioritise people who have previously bought tickets or is that just too much of a faff?

Sounds reasonable for a test event. If limited tickets going forward, would seem a minefield.
I suppose the best hope is that anyone who is particularly keen to attend a Carliale match, in future should be OK bar the first game or two.

Cambridge holds just over 8000, so 2500 is roughly 30% of their capacity.

Brunton Park holds 17300 as of last Season, so 30% is 5190.

So we could easily allow say a capped figure of 5000 with no Away fans?

Great for us if that is how it plays out.
Was thinking they might want each club to prove their worth based upon local factors for first two or three games with drastically low crowd limits.

If all supposedly goes well, but two weeks later you find 1000 that attended now have Covid how would they know if it attributed to it.

It shouldn't affect football's plans. At the moment the limit on a gathering is 30 people. This is being reduced to 6. The Cambridge match will have many more people and therefore cannot be deemed to be a 'gathering' or fans would not be allowed in. The government will hopefully explain exactly that things like XR stunts are gatherings but socially distanced events like open air theatre performances, watching non-league football etc aren't gatherings as the people don't mingle.

I thought he said team sports such as football are exempt from the no more than 6 gathering rule. The actual sport, as in the players on the pitch, not the fans.

I don’t know how clubs are going to survive this if it goes beyond new year. That would be 10 months of absolutely no match day income.

Worth it though, for this deadly virus that kills 0.82% it infects.

If I was the EFL I’d cancel the season now to November and make use of however left of the furlough scheme. I follow income will not be enough and clubs will go as it looks unlikely supporters will be in or capped at 1000 - not enough.

Lets see how many premier league teams pay matchday staff and other behind scenes staff off, just after forking out over the top millions yet again on players .....

Seems a shame that ticketing arrangements, rather than the safety of fans being at the game were the reason it was cancelled after all that.
