Some scrapping there. Barrow and Accy fans not the best of friends.

Not that I’m interested in this competition while B teams are involved, but it’s a good chance for our players to pit their wits against Morecambe and possibly cause a giant killing cup upset.

Derek Adams said he was going to stop us calling ourselves "Little Morecambe" and he succeeded.

How's that going to work then? Are we still going to play them in a friendly?

Why not?

Got to be postponed. We don’t want to show our hand for the big cup game.

We can't be showing our hand before the cup game, oh, wait, it's the PJ game, carry on.

Good to see Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea all played last night as the traditional week for the Trophy in the International window is an inconvenience for them!

Yes it is an utter disgrace they twist and bend all the rules for themselves.

More shambles incoming. Pep is playing young un’s for City against Wycombe in the League Cup tomorrow due to injuries.

No problem? Shame they also have a Trophy game tomorrow at Doncaster! So the Trophy will be the one affected by under strength teams…

Think tonight's Hartlepool v Morecambe draw with Pools winning on penalties means we qualify for the next round.

Accrington Stanley5 - 0 Leicester City U21

So how will that improve the Leicester City U21s? It is just a totally worthless game, embarrassing for Leicester City and of little use to Accrington Stanley.

Surely the test for any game of football is for it to be even vaguely popular? I know that early rounds in this Cup have never drawn crowds but for goodness sake, Leicester City brought 8 fans, no 0s missed off, 8.

Heyho, the clubs can shovel the tainted prize money into their coffers, while we as fans have two fingers stuck up at us!

They can’t hear you Bumble ;) - sorry joke - but you get what you mean and yes there’s no swearing.

Completely agree with you. We made our feelings known about this competition and were ignored.

To be fair though the majority of supporters elsewhere were ignored. Clubs at our level make more money with them in it and that’s why they are.

Utterly pointless - supporters lost interest - I won’t go to a Wembley final it’s tarnished.

I don’t even think getting rid of the kids teams will do anything- time to get rid.

I still feel it's a back door into the League for B teams, however much that's denied, I do think that will happen in the next few years.

I have really enjoyed the competition over the years. Seeing players make their debut and taking a look at fringe players and different systems, this season there has been two interesting matches, it's a real shame that the lower leagues have turned into a plaything for the rich and famous.

The problem is we can’t do anything about it. What’s happened is people have just stopped going and it’s completely devalued it.

If B teams go into the league it’ll devalue it, people will stop going and the big teams will get richer.

Same at this club - can’t do anything so stop going.

It'll probably be a good lesson for them young players that proper football is a long way from Academy football and that they're not as good as they thought they were!

Goals against academy B teams should not count in official stats for the year

It’s not a proper competition. Even the EFL recognise this with the separate disciplinary system that can even carry over into another season! Ludicrous set up.

Academy football and L1/L2 football are like two different games now.

The EFL Trophy is a compromise. Guardiola in particular has said he wants B teams in the league but admits it's unlikely in the short term. Lower league clubs aren't enamoured with U-21 teams in the Trophy but have been bought off with cash and reassurances that their chances of winning it aren't diminished. Boris claimed the credit yesterday for stopping the European Superleague. There's every chance he would intervene to stop a B team proposal to keep his voters in Hartlepool, Carlisle etc happy.
