Thank you for all the kind words. John was always proud to be from Carlisle and no matter what circles he moved in, he made sure people knew where he was from. Always a Carlisle fan, no matter what...
God bless x

Very sad news indeed, he breathed new life into Border TV becoming a real popular fella and was a favourite of all ages with his presenting skills.Border really hasnt had a charismatic presenter since his days.
His input into transforming local radio in the 90swas important...his nice relaxed style kept folk interested and entertained when CFM started..how many of us made it a must to listen to his stuff.

Saw him on tv recently get interviewed and he looked well after his treatment for throat cancer.. and he had the all clear so we dont know if it had returned or not.Only 60 as well.R.I.P John.

RIP John.

He always had that infectious laugh, and that Friday night phone in he used to host with Michael Knighton as his guest was just brilliant.

First time I can remember him was reading out the Birthday cards on Border with the Monkey. Seemed a decent, genuine bloke and certainly was a breath of fresh air into that stale tv station.

Does anyone else remember the girl that phones in once for one of the giveaways, the answer to the question was Adolf HItler, she had no idea at all, John Myers started giving her clues, one about a venomous snake in the UK, adder obviously, the other about what do you call someone with a set of clubs and plays 18 holes, golfer obviously, she had to be helped with these as well, after lots of cajoling, help and general stupidity, he asked her something along the lines of who led the germans in WW2, AdderGolfer Hitler came the reply, John Myers just lost it and said I will give you the prize, she was thick as mince.

During one of the most difficult and challenging time in my life I listened to the John Myers CFM evening shows with my Mam. How we laughed together. Those evenings will forever hold very special memories for me. He transported us away with his wit and enthusiasm.
RIP John Myers a great entertainer.
