Jack Richardson's comment of train shagger is a bit random. Is that SO?

How does he justify his comment " the budget allows us to compete". In no way can we compete, offering 1 year contracts is a really good incentive to attract players,not. Instead of swanning off to Portugal he should be here sorting out the mess they've got the club into

More to the point is this bit from his interview with the news and star

“You could see that from the number of players coming out of contract. Of the permanents we recruited in the last [summer] window, we’ve only retained one of them in Adam Collin. We didn’t get that sort of continuity, so that defers the problem and carries it forward.

How does this insistence on one year contracts help with sorting that issue?

The thing with Clibbens is you have to read his words exactly as he says them. Yes the playing budget may be exactly as that planned at the same time last year. However because of injuries, departures etc in 2018-19 we ended up spending well over the planned budget. For 2019-20 there is a clear intention to perform better than budget now that the legacy contracts are finished. In practice this means that the amount spent will probably show at least a 20% drop. The question to Clibbens should be does he currently expect the amount spent on the playing side to be significantly less than last season. The answer should be yes but while he has season tickets to sell he will try to evade the question and stick to the much better sounding unchanged budget.

In real terms it must be less then unless he's factored in a rise for inflation.

I’m not sure I agree with Nigel on his stats on a medium term basis.Short term, an advantage from higher spending on players might not be obvious but in the medium term, it most certainly does.The EFL stats are very clear-the higher the wage, the more chance of higher ranking.

Nonetheless, if it’s not in the tin, you can’t have it.Living within one’s means is admirable-that means the Club needs to raise its game on the revenue front.Would be interesting to see stats showing commercial revenue over the last 10 seasons
