He's not a striker.

You're never going to get the finished article, if he was incredibly prolific we'd never have got him in the first place on a free would we? But I always think back to Yates, his numbers looked shit up until right at the end of his loan, if he'd left a month earlier we'd never have thought of him again probably. Put some faith in him to succeed and get behind him.

I've no idea what he is but it's a good Scottish name and that'll do for me.

I think maybe he's a bit like a Peter Beardsley type player according to Villa website.

Another Smurf at 5'7" to be left all alone upfront to outmuscle 6'3 or 6'4 centre-backs. Sounds like a good plan. 5 in 40 at L2 level will get your team relegated.

Was out for 12 weeks with hamstring injury late last year hope he’s fully recovered. Wukkie he’s 5’ 9”. Same height roughly that Hughie Mac was when he played for us. At 22 he’s more about potential.

It's getting to the point if we signed Stevie Wonder as a striker supporters would be pleased.

Another unproven player, albeit with a little tinpot 2 experience. We will need some quality loan players in if there is to be a hint of any success.

With all these cheapo players at least the matchday experience should be good, clean seats, soft toilet tissue mmmmm

How proven was Yates,Nadesan and the lad from Villa .
Only get better by playing every week and being part of the team which he will get here

We aren't going to get proven players with what we are offering though. This is what it will be like next season, young inexperienced lads.

Yep - What a sad state of affairs we can no longer get proven tier 4 players.

It's going to be an interesting season one way or another.

Charlie Wyke scored 10 in 57 league starts prior to joining us at the same age, so 5 in 13 starts for McKirdy is hardly a really bad record comparatively. We'd be looking at a near 20 goal striker if he started every league game and continued that record. It might not go that way, of course, but I'm content with this.

It's finding the right ones that's the hard part. Somebody like Coleman at Accrington is expert at it.

Being able to spot a player that can step up and do a job at this level is not easy. Simmo did it with the likes of Simon Hackney, Danny Livesey and Westwood.

I hope it's Pressley picking the players and not Holdsworth. -

To be fair Abbott signed the likes of Madden and Wells who turned out to be very good players he just didn't have the balls to play them he also signed Loy who I thought was very promising before injuries

When was the last time CUFC bought or signed a so called proven striker ?

I keep seeing posts here and FB talking about previous scoring records but who have we signed in past with a good scoring record who also scored for us?

Jabo Ibehre? Hardly prolific but a well respected, experienced striker.

The negativity of our fan base towards signings is becoming less of a joke and more irritating every year. 22 year old lad, if he works hard against some of the dross at this level he'll get goals from defensive errors alone.

Good luck to him, I'll certainly back anyone who runs their arse off for 90 mins in the first instance, and after that who knows the player he might turn out to be.

I took his height from Transfermarkt as 1.75m so that's coverted into 5'7" in English. They might have it wrong.

I think supporters have every right to exercise their displeasure at the calibre of players coming in.

It's no disrespect to the player/signings but we are now to embark on our 6th season in tier 4. We are now feeding on scraps and becoming a development team, its a joke.

We will get half-season loan deals in and if we are doing well in January they won't come back and we will save a bit of money. Any threat of relegation and they will spend to make sure it doesn't happen.

So much for Google converter then.

If he bangs in 20 goals I don't care what his height is but let's face it even if he gets near ten by January he'll be away for 85K before deadline day.

This will be a SP signing from his Villa connection, I don't think the negative vibes are down to the lads signed but more a worry that they will not be complemented with some experience around them. If we go with 15 or 16 of these type of players I fear a return of the Roddy team.

I like the idea of signing young players from bigger clubs who are hungry to kickstart their careers. If they are shite we can bin them off pretty quickly and if they are good we get money for them when they leave regardless of whether they are under contract or not.

But we really need to balance that with more seasoned players who’ve proven themselves a bit at this or league 1 level, and this is where we’ll need to be a bit more flexible with the lengths of our contracts.

Does Richie Bennett count (16 goals in his season at Barrow) or does it have to be proper league?

Tbh I wouldn't call either Paynter or Bridges prolific however both came with a bit of expectation

You said proven. I’d say Paynter had proved himself at league 1 level before we signed him.

Paynter was a pretty mediocre striker apart from scoring 29 for Swindon one season. On the back of that he went to Leeds were he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. Two in two year!

So yeah, proven, glad you agree nobby. And don’t forget He played up front in Doncaster’s promotion winning team. Proven at league one level. He was absolutely shite for us but we’re talking about when a player signs for us.

I’d put Lee Miller in the proven category as well come to think of it.
