Why has iredale not been playing lb? Mellish seems awful there. I like this lineup though, even if I don't think it'll win.

I think he picked up an injury in pre-season and isn't quite up to starting yet.

There will be no changing too many players either as the squad is that threadbare if we did we'd be playing the youth team, thanks EWM!

Shame we can't find a way of resting Jones given how vital he's going to be for us over the coming 2-3 months. However, with Carroll's idiotic suspension, he'll have to play. I literally see no way around it that doesn't turn our midfield into a black hole.

Elsewhere, I'd be happy to see some younger faces having a run out and a couple needing the game time to get it. Mellish deserves a go at CB too, given that is his actual position and he's been a lamb to the slaughter at LB. As a result of that, and other factors, maybe 5 at the back worth a second thought?

Full strength. Cup run is massive both for money, but even more so for keeping people's interest in the club, in a period where we will not be challenging at the top of the table.

Barnsley will be up for a cup run as well, so I expect them to put a strong side out

Is Iredale a natural left back? If so play him.

The first team need to get match fit asap - no need to rest players this early in the season.

From what little I've seen of Barnsley they look, quick, strong and tactically aware. Could be a long night
