2 Games in....

and now we are subject to the inevitable over-reaction to both results. After the defeat by Swindon it seems that the whole club (recruitment, Presley, Holdsworth, EWM, The tea Lady....etc) is now under fire, and individual players (Mellish) are subject to vitriolic abuse.
Can I suggest that people wait a few weeks before making 'we're doomed' or 'I'm not going back until.........' comments. There are still an enormous amount of games left I believe.
Can I also suggest that people just get a bit of perspective about whether or not they really need to abuse others on here. It really is childish as well as being off-putting.

To be fair Bry - you will always get a split of opinion regardless of anybody's own opinion.

I agree that all players should be judged by game time, many players that were bad for us went on to be decent for other clubs.

Many have mirrored your own views so it isn't like everyone thinks that he is a bad signing.

Let's be holnest, if we finish mid-table this season, but some of our non-loan signings show signs of encouragement and a couple of our youth players get a bit of game time and go on from there, that would surely be the best we can reasonably expect, with the route we have gone down.
We can have concerns about the lack of investment in the team but still enjoy seeing the lads do their best and give them our full support.

Regardless - if the manager is any good then he will get the best out of him.

Maybe this is a minor point, but surely merely holding your breath leads to suffocation, not choking? That is something entirely different.

On a much bigger point, some of the views on Mellish so far have been way over the top. At center back against Hibs he looked good I thought. He will be a good player for the club. To write him off now is basically senseless.

I’m saddened by the treatment by some of Mellish. The guy is an athlete and with more fitness and confidence,I think he will be another Etuhu type find.Give him a break and get behind him.

2 games in and I’m happy with the way it’s going. On our day I think we could destroy teams with our pace on the wings which we haven’t had in years. We now have a striker who has got a goal early in the season and will be a confidence booster for him. Our midfield is lightweight I will admit but I like bridge as a player and can see him being a goal scorer for us because he gets in good positions I also think Sagaf should start against Mansfield to add something different in midfield. Defensively I like Elliot, Webster, Percival and I think Mellish has potential to be a very good player. We have in my opinion the best shot stopper in the league with Colin but I don’t think he suits playing out from the back. I like the way we play and people say you can’t win league playing passing football but why can’t we change that. I think we are a great team to watch and can only get better.

Good comparison with Etuhu in terms of a find. Hadn’t thought of it like that before, but I agree.

Treatment of Etuhu was of course similar when he joined. He was player of the season last year for me.

I can't see any comparison between Ethuhu and Mellish in any way.

He was immense last season.

Came with the criticism that we had to sign him or Hope wouldn't come here.

Fact is that they both have been excellent signings - the only argument might be that they are on a higher wage than the rest.

Isn't how that how things work though, you find your level and if you excel then you get paid the going rate?

We just want cheapo signings at the moment who the club hope will find their feet.

Mellish actually got more time that Etuhu to be fair. At least he got two games of the season before people decided to write him off.

Etuhu was written off before he even turned up for pre-season by most on here!

As I said. Etuhu was player of the season last year for me. When Mellish gets up to speed, I see no reason why he won’t be spoken about in a similar breath in time.

There's only one person saying he's shite. Nearly everybody says Mellish will probably be ok at centre half.

Sorry do apologise for being positive I deserve to be banned.

Mellish is young it’s a big step up for him, he’s got enough about him to suggest he will be a very good player given time, should maybe be blooded gradually rather than been thrown in at the deep end. Hayden looks capable so may be worth being given a shot as well.
I think we may have found gem in Sagaf someone on here said he looks weak but he’s far from it if you check out video clips of him.
Let’s hope the team click and do well like last season when we had a slow start. As for being happy with mid table lack of ambition is what keeps fans away we need to aim for promotion.

With the whole 6 month thing nowadays it seems to me that we might as well just get on with supporting the team.
There will always be some folks who will look at a plucky 0-0 draw away at Forest Green as a good result and others who say we should be beating the likes of them.
Nobody is happy with mid-table but you have to be realistic or you will be miserable all the time.

There’s always overreaction until the end of the first month because of the small sample size to judge players.

Last weekend there were plenty slating understandably rusty newcomers but by full-time, the same were buzzing with the performance. Crawley beating Salford shows how much a valuable three points it was.

I wasn’t there on Saturday but if Swindon come out as a very good side this season and get promoted, it won’t seem like such a bad result as it feels now.

Tomorrow night will be a tough one but the way we play means we can get through anyone and it’s just about keeping tight in my opinion.

All the new signings look exciting to me, and there’s a long way to go yet but each to their own opinion at any stage. Keep the faith.
