It's getting more difficult to ignore the facts about what is happening those that still say its all rubbish must like wearing rose tinted glasses.
It is part of a cycle that the earth is going through but we are accelerating it at an alarming rate, and brexit sadly has become a distraction we could do without , as we face a real threat to the future of our species.
Our present Govt are a big threat as they choose to ignore what needs to be done with their attitude of profit before people.
It's a global problem that needs a global approach to help us face and deal with what is coming our way, that actually means working together as a species and not trying to be insular and selfish like Trump and the likes of Boris are trying to do.

This is not a new topic, but the young lady has got everyone talking.

The scenarios we are experiencing have been well predicted, and unless we all stop breeding, there is little we can do to stop it.

What will they do in Oman when the Oil runs out, all leave as there is nothing to sustain the people ?

China closes more Companies per year than the Western developed Countries start, due to the lack of Energy and Resources, while at the same-time are building whole new Cities for the ever growing population.

Half the World is starving, while the other half throw consumer goods away and half the food we produce.

We cannot sort out leaving the EU, fat chance of saving the planet.

It was interesting reading about cows destroying the planet. In the UK the average dairy herd size is about 160 cows. In China they have individual dairy farms that have 100,000 cows, in the USA the average herd size is over 1000.

The people on the planet need fed, and as prosperity continues things can only get worse as the demand for a better diet continues, it is inevitable we will consume the planets resources - unless we stop breeding and the World population declines dramatically.

So, instead of Carbon quotas, what about people quotas ?

China's one child policy is the most obvious example of people quotas and was relaxed somewhat in 2013, widely criticized as being a human rights abuse.

How do you enforce it ethically, that's the question? The ecologically-minded people who you'd presumably want to thrive will slowly self-eliminate themselves through natural selection while the human rats who disregard the regulation will continue to multiply at a faster rate.

But we are heading towards most of humanity being wiped out sooner or later.

Even if there is a slowdown in population growth and better management of resources, in the long run the Earth will become uninhabitable anyway.

If another habitable planet is found and the resources and technology to travel to and settle upon it discovered, are 10 billion people going to be airlifted away? Of course not. Just a couple of hundred will be taken to face an uncertain future while the remaining billions will be left to perish in the expanding sun.

There, that's taken the wind right out of Wolves U-21's sails.

We have the ability and tech knowledge to adapt and survive but as long as greed is the driving factor the will to the right things are not there. All nations agreeing as one is what's required and will never happen as the rise in nationalism and self interest which is the way we are going is a guarentee that we will continue to self destruct.

It OK blustering on about how to save the planet but until greener options are affordable to ALL its a pissing in the wind mission.
The very same thing is happening in the obesity crisis fruit and veg costing a fortune whilst 24 cans of coke and 2 packets of chocolate biscuits can be bought for under a fiver.

Make good cleaner ideas to the environment affordable to everyone and the change will be dramatic.

Being green and eating healthy is a rich hypocrits game atm.

Only a totalitarian state could enforce such policies.

Maybe that is what will happen in a couple of hundred years, China will take over a collapsing world at some point on its downward spiral.

In general broadly 15% of the population of any country don't contribute to the wealth of the country. To counter this several South East Asian countries have paid sterilisation available and the current government has discussed this. Go get sterilised and you get a couple of hundred quid, no effect on benefits.

I would support Euthanasia, not much fun getting old and then ending up in life's waiting room.

We think it's cruel to see an old dog suffer, so the sad day comes when a trip to the vets is needed to be put down, however we allow it with human beings. If there was an end date, it would put some value in Pensions.

Seeing the old suffer is not nice.

Like, what do young people do, what do they consume and how do they get there entertainment. Then of course where does all that come from and how will affect climate change.

You echo my opinion the SO, spot on. I wholeheartedly agree that there is a problem but, the young who are curently shouting loudly about it, probably aren't prepared to make the sacrifices that they could very easily do. Is it hypocrisy that they shout loudly but perhaps wouldn't ditch their energy consuming devices and entertainment? Is it hypocritical that they still consume MacDonalds and other fast foods with all the wrappings they come with? Are they naive to believe that the change they want could be acheived in the timeframe they suggest? At what cost? and to whom?

Acrylonitrile can also actually be produced from plants now , (90%) of the make up of Carbon fibre.
