Thomas doubtful for the trip due to illness.
Pressley on Thomas: “I’d spoken to Nathan at length last Thursday about what I expect from him in terms of his physical data. Because if we’re going to be a team that pressurises the game we have to cover a certain degree of distance, and run at a certain intensity."
He seems obsessed with stats. So if you run around in circles quite fast not affecting the game he's quite happy.
Malcolm Poskett would never have got a game on that basis!

I spoke to Nathan last week now he's gone on the sick! To be fair to Elvis Thomas has been missing the last few games. Lets see if Christie can't do a bit better further forward- the advent of the defensive winger.
0 2 Too much quality for us. One defeat and 6 goals conceded! Going to be a long 90 minutes
Newport have that Jamile Matt don't they? Saw him play a few times, seems very good going forward but zero finishing ability. Very quick feet

I think Thomas is suffering from Pressley's coaching. He seems a pale shadow of how he started the season.
I'm looking forward to the Newport trip as I won't be able to make many away games this season. However I fear the worst going to a club in good form and I expect a real drubbing. 7-0 after going down to 10 men.

I agree. Another example of Pressley failing to get the best out of individuals by insisting that everyone conforms to inflexible tactics and Opta stat targets, regardless of whether they are suited to or capable of it.

Newport are in the top 6, they just beat their promotion rivals away. They have only lost 1 league game this season.
They have just given their manager a three year contract.
Our record against them is poor.
Everything points to a home win, but football doesn't always work like that.
I'm going for 2-1 win to the blues to shoot us into the top half.
Olomola will score at least one.

Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley says he is “not concerned” about criticism because he is convinced he and the Blues are on the right track.
Pressley’s side go to Newport tomorrow hoping to build on last weekend’s home win against Oldham.
The 1-0 Latics victory came despite what many supporters felt was a poor Brunton Park display.
Pressley, though, says his 16th-placed side deserved “great credit” for the result against what he felt was a strong Oldham side, and are doing enough to encourage him.
Speaking at his weekly press conference, he said: “I’m never satisfied when we don’t play well.
“But let’s be honest. Football management is the only job in the world where everybody else knows better than me. Everybody has an opinion, everybody knows better than me, and that’s the reality of the job.
“You can’t do anything now as a football manager and get credit. That’s what goes with the territory. So am I concerned about criticism? Absolutely not
So no fan could possibly know better than him. Abbott started with that crack and that didn't end too well.

2-0 Newport. We're poor against Newport usually. Awful pitch and a long trip, would be over the moon with a point today to be honest.
