We should start extradition proceedings on a charge of death by dangerous driving. The Yanks would do the same if some of our city traders bend a few rules. I knew a British guy who had to avoid the US on a price-fixing charge and could have faced 25 years in jail if he had set foot there.

When I lived in the USA a woman in a big chevy run a red light past three lanes of of stationary cars (that had stopped) and knocked my Volkswagen 50 yards down the road in the opposite direction which I was making the turn. If I had proceeded as soon as I got the green light she would have gone through my driver's door and I wouldn't be typing this. Luckily the car didn't roll and the seat belt stopped me just short of the windshield but I still suffer chest and rib pains today.

My girlfriend at the time Mother worked at Motor Vehicle and probably did something she shouldn't have and looked up this 58 year old woman's driving record. She had violations that went on for pages. In fact she was banned from driving.

Needless to say she denied it was her fault despite the police report and luckily witnesses who came forward. The police from the skid marks had her doing 68 mph (also well over the limit) and one witness said she didn't even hit her brakes.

I later times the light from my office and from the police estimate of her speed at the time worked out she was some 200 to 400 yards (can't recall exactly now) before the intersection when her light changed to red.

Despite being banned, totalling two cars, and luckily not killing me (as well as herself) she got a $60 fine for failing to stop.

So these Americans come here with the same disregard they drive on their own roads.

Why we let them drive here when most State driving tests are a joke (they can even pass in an automatic then switch to a 'stick" manual - and if you have ever been in a car with someone who got their driving license in the USA they would be breaking the law here the way they drive a manual coasting with the clutch in etc) that Noddy could pass in his toy car I'll never know.

In addition the US Embassy in London owes GBPMillions in Inner London parking tickets and that charge you get for driving there.

Also as some here breaks the 'law" then the USA think it's their God given right to extradite them to the USA... one rule for them and another for the rest of the world they piss over...


To drive on British Roads you should has a UK License (or the equivalent - and a US License is nowhere near equivalent to any European license)

Extradition doesn't apply in the case of diplomatic immunity, that's the point.

Can only be waived by the US authorities.

I know that but I'd like to see us try and test her claim of diplomatic immunity in the US courts. Just because her husband may work for the CIA shouldn't protect her from helping our police with their enquiries. The more we can embarrass the woman the more likely she is to relent and come and face the music voluntarily.
