What a bunch of Yobs.... was created by thesilentone
"There were dramatic scenes outside Richard Rose Central Academy this afternoon as what began as a peaceful protest turned violent.

Children gathered outside the Carlisle school hurled bottles and stones at the building, with some chanting for the resignation of headteacher Ceri Bacon.

Police were called to the scene at about 3.15 in a bid to calm the situation.

Dozens of parents have also been gathered outside the school this afternoon, about what they say are overly-strict rules and the liberal use of internal exclusion.

One parent held up a banner declaring the school "HMP Richard Rose Central Academy".

The trouble is wrong but this obsession with trouser length and shoe style is ridiculous. If we were still readying kids for national service or tedious jobs in factories then fair enough but we need young people with interesting ideas and prepared to take risks. This kind of 'discipline' and obeying rules is old hat and is weirdly English. You don't see kids on the continent going to school all looking the same.

I understand the protest but there’s no need to make it violent maybe they should seek tips about boycotting from some on here

I heard from one parent that you had to buy your uniform from a specific shop, vastly overpriced as well like twenty two quid for a pair of school trousers.

They should be re-cycling bottles, not throwing them at the school building, are they not ecologically aware.

I find the current haircut regulations being imposed in many schools very over the top.

I spent most of my teenage years with a Peaky Blinders type haircut which apparently wouldn’t be acceptable at many schools these days.

Never did me any harm etc etc

They impose a high standard for dress and hair but provide a sub-standard level of education.

Is this the old Morton School? I never know what they are called now.

As long as we had either grey, blue, black trousers we were fine.

Also had trainers which were always covered in mud from walking across the field - yes everyone used to walk to school! - it would be embarrassing getting dropped off by your parents.

Don’t know what the problem is about their scruffy appearance, they were renown for it years ago compared to us Newman snazzy dressers.
