Names, dates and witnesses please? I'd be surprised if they sacked him as it would cost them money. I want him gone - he took over a promotion team - said they were not fit enough and has replaced them with crap. Easily the worst team of this century. Remember the team that went down to the conference was on the up the 2nd half of the season and then achieved 2 promotions and 8th place in league 1 in successive seasons. Barrow would easily beat this shambles in a competitive match!

The incompetents who appointed him should also go. It was obvious to a lot of people it was a bad appointment, espessially how fast he took the team backwards at the end of last season. Most clubs extend a managers contract because he earns it with improved results etc. Carlisle do the opposite. Seem to remember they did the same with Abbot. Lost loads of games? Let's extend his contract! Only at Carlisle.

Big question here is who would you give the job to that would make any difference, unless there is a change in ownership or EWM finally step up and take over properly. Sir Alex Ferguson himself couldn’t do any better with the present set up. The club are in terminal decline and digging their own grave.
Not through choice but I along with countless others have all but given up on the club, at least I can count myself lucky enough to have witnessed some great players and teams wearing the clubs colours in the distant past when we were a really good second division (championship) club for many years.
Can’t even watch premiership games as they are as guilty as anyone of killing off the game through sheer greed.

I believe there are plenty of managers who could get a lot more out of this group of players.

Although results, performances and tactics have been below par for 75% of this season, sacking Pressley will change nothing important in my opinion.

Clibbens and Holdsworth are clearly using Pressley, who seems a like a decent bloke, as a shield from criticism because they know he’ll take it.

The one-year contract fantasy was doomed to fail and we all saw it coming. Recruitment has become a total farce.

I agree that Pressley needed to really start well and follow-up on all the things that he promised in summer - fittest team in the league etc.

But who would do anything with a group of players no one else really wants, and that are suited to his/Gav Skelton/Nathan Rooney’s philosophy?

The signs of a good team are there, but with far too many alarming lapses at the back and, particularly yesterday, on the ball; meaning we’re deservedly four places off the bottom.

Pressley has praised the ‘group’ as a good one but there’s little camaraderie off the pitch and literally no leaders on it so there’s clearly work to do. A few rumbles of players with attitude problems have also clouded things.

It’ll cost to sack him, find a replacement and ultimately, get a cheap manager who’s desperate for a job in, who’ll make excuses until he gets his own squad next summer.

Personally, I think we might as well stick with him until we either get out of this rut or really get involved in a relegation scrap, which will be very easily avoidable given one team can only go down - he says.

It’s probably the most miserable and toxic I’ve seen fan base has been since I started supporting but we all know how League Two can change in a few weeks. I wouldn’t expect him to get sacked any time soon.

I don't think we're at risk of relegation, but that's only because only 1 team goes down otherwise I would be very worried .

I think he has probably got 3 or 4 games more. This league is so poor and tight, we’re only a couple of wins from being in the playoff mix. Failure to get five or six points at least from Plymouth, Northampton and Orient games should see him get his cards.

As for possible replacements, Derek Adams, Sol Campbell, and Ziggy Aranalde are all looking for work...

We are more than a couple of wins from the playoffs as every team above us isn't going to lose to games. Cant see this team winning 2 in a row.

As I've said on another thread. Two set piece specialists left, Grainger and Devitt and they were replaced by precisely no-one.

Exactly ....you could always bank on having a chance of a well executed FK......wonder what they're thinking when checking the results. Grainger is pals with Gav Skelton and Devitt..presumably they talk

Says everything really - when you can identify the problem but cannot find a solution even when given an ample amount of time and chances to get it right then it is as clear as day that you are not the right person for the job.

McCaffrey managed us in the 20th century.

Aiden mccaffery was very bad. Like David mccreery. I liked atkins. His players were awful so he just put 11 men behind the ball at all times and hoped we scored from set pieces. Kept us up against the odds

At least with Atkins team it felt like they appreciated their limitations and played accordingly.

I worry that this manager & team seems to think they can knock it around like Barcelona and that teams should just lie down for us.

I don't see the fight, desire or organisation of Ian Atkins' team.

He appears to have fallen out with McKirdy and Thomas. Olaf looks totally disinterested compared to a few weeks ago. If we're dissatisfied with the tactics I guess that's par for the course. But if the players are dissatisfied it tells you all is not well. We need a new manager about 1 November, so he can plan for the transfer window. Hopefully a manager with some decent contacts, so he can plug the gaps. A left back who can defend and a centre mid who can tackle would be where I would start. Then organising the centre backs because I think the 3 of them are decent underneath, then working out which of the 3 strikers can put the ball in the net and how the team gets to do that. I don't actually think we are that far away from a top half team who would be difficult to beat, Elvis just doesn't know how to organise them.

Hard to argue with Markos post above. It feels as though SP 's reign is coming to an end, i would say though that anybody who thought this was going to go well when you consider the summer recruitment would need to take a good look at themselves. Short tern contracts on a mixture of past it crocks, non league prospects and other clubs unwanted is hardly a recipe for success. The problems stem from the top SP is merely the fall guy.

The loan market is ruining the game.
Young and youngish players come on loan to get a game.
If they don't then play , they are going to be pissed off.
This then doesn't help morale.
Loan numbers should be limited and loans should be cancelled if players don't play.
Loft, as an example , has done OK.
One minute he is on the books of a Premier League side, now he can't even get on the pitch in a bottom of league 2 side.
It's a recipe for disaster.

Loan signings are a disaster waiting to happen, I've said before on other threads the football would be better off limiting the number of players each team can have in their squad to stop young lads being hoovered up into meaningless development squad football instead of learning the game in proper, competitive matches in the lower leagues.
Those who can't cut it would get weeded out far sooner and those who can would get the education they need to make them better able to step up the leagues.
Loaning young lads who think a lower league club is below them or they're somehow doing you a favour coming here is a poor system for all involved, as is a parent club dictating to the loan club what they should do with their player....
