It's been discussed before but a similar worthwhile project to preserve some of the club's heritage would be to collate rare video footage of past CUFC matches.

I always feel some of our big moments of which plenty of footage should exist are absent from youtube - Peter Murphy's goals to win the 2005 play off final and the 2011 JPT final for example.

There's also the 3-1 win at Man City on MotD in February 1985 - last time this was mentioned at least one person said they had a copy but couldn't be arsed to forward it on to someone who could convert it.

Some of this earlier stuff which probably only exists on home-taped VHS will be lost for good unless it is collated soon.

The cost of framing 20+ shirts isn’t cheap, compared to the deal on the shirt hangers!

The shirts up at the moment aren’t permanent, merely an example!

The plan is to catalogue the last 30yrs worth of Home shirts around the wall. Hopefully it will look smarter and more organised when done.

Think I paid £25-30 to get my centenary shirt framed by the place in Denton Holme. So would be quite a sizeable cost to frame them all but agree they look awful hung like that and I would imagine pretty easy to go “missing”.

The problem is that they are on display, without anyone knowing it's an example and there are all there - it looks so tinpot.

Something like the national football museum - I don't imagine it'll cost much. they may have some leftover if you ask them.

Such a shame that AJ & EWM don't have the money to do a proper job Oh! Hang on.
Agree about video of united matches someone needs to find as many of the old matches and put them together before they are lost forever. Would also show younger fans exactly why us oldies harp on about the good old days in the old second division and our one season at the very top.

I've seen better displays of football shirts in Benidorm bars than that rag tag shite served up here.

Can believe anyone has put them shirts up and thought "That looks good"

It got published via social media. It’s got ripped/criticised and is going viral, as other clubs are commenting on it.

I don’t want to complain for complaining sake, I want a new hobby, but come on!

I honestly think that they say temporary in the same breathe as they say that they are reluctant custodians.

Hopefully they will get shanned into framing the shirts before they get ruined by being exposed as dust collectors.

Says a lot when Mr Day couldn't find a grand to get this sorted, it is hardly like he is being asked to shell out for a new player.

What I want to know is why they are stuck away in some offices that 99% of the fans never visit.

I look on a rugby league merchandise page on Facebook where shirts can go for very large sums usually NRL ones when I posted a picture of a shirt I bought when I followed GB in 92 to Oz that's been stuck in a drawer since I bought it due to it being to small,to get a view on its value I was warned against framing it as it would decrease its value!
Got a hell of a shock when folk commented on its value aswell...not saying these shirts are valuable but perhaps that's in clubs mind although I'm of opinion like everyone else would look way better framed

What’s happened is this:

CUSG have bought some Shirt Display Hangers. They were dropped down to the Club, and a little plan conceived for the hanging.

The Club’s handyman has then put the Hangers up, and somebody (No idea who until the next CUSG Meeting) has obviously tried a shirt to see how it works, then decided to put a few up randomly for now (Well meaningly I’m sure).

Personally, I’d have left the Hangers empty, as more have been ordered to fill the stairwell, and I see no point in hanging until they’re all ready to go.

What was planned was 30yrs worth of Home tops, in chronological order as you go up, which I think will look a lot smarter than the random mix that is currently up.

There’s also plenty more Shirts in the box we’ve collected, so some were pencilled in for framing properly and then going up in the Main Stand Bars when they get refurbished next year.

The idea behind using these Hangers, is you can inter-change over time if you want, so they will be able to be washed if they do collect dust.

A couple of folk I know have seen them and think they look better in the flesh than on the Picture. I’ve not been down since they went up so can’t say!

I was down there for tickets & wasn't overly impressed by the way they were displayed, some were hanging better than others ( maybe some are larger shirts ) would look much better in frames

What I have enjoyed over the last few months is the evening news reports of historic matches and photographs of the old games.
Those pictures are priceless and should be displayed everywhere. Big crowds, old parts of brunton, great scenes etc. That's what should be filling corridors and concourse like other clubs. If I was the club official I'd be on to the en&s and working with them to create a brilliant gallery that would create a lovely historic footprint. Go for it everyone..
