For all BoZo is whining on about the EU being flexible, if the UK was flexible and agreed to the EU's freedom of movement we'd be out in a week. We've pretty much done that for the irish border so "taking back control" has gone for a burton, just need to chuck the airports and eurotunnel in as well.

Borrowing the theme from another thread about the Central Plaza, the Hotel reminds me a little of the EU, a crumbling edifice that`s seen better days, swallows up a lot of finance without any sign of progress, is rotten at the core, requires a lot of support just to stand up, and needs to be demolished and perhaps rebuilt.

Nobody's giving any factual detail on how we will be better off out especially via a no deal exit. Sure the EU is full of flaws but if you reflect and don't let emotions take over, how will we be better off, how will our economy benefit with a hard exit? Nobody is saying because they can't. Calm heads needed not Boris and his unelected spin doctor muddying the waters and playing on peoples fears like Garage does.

Pure theatre but the Queen's Speech debate this afternoon has been quite entertaining. No wonder viewing figures for the BBC Parliament channel have rocketed this year. Best bit was when the Speaker called Ian Blackford to speak for the SNP and there was a huge dash for the exit. It's a wonder there wasn't a rousing chorus of "Is there a fire alarm?"

We were told that the EU wouldn't negotiate a new deal. Put No deal on the table and look at what happens. The EU has always been more scared of No-deal than us.
Party politics though will mean it won't go through parliament, I can't see the DUP agreeing to it. It'll be very close mind.

A deal is better than no deal. Looks like the Benn Act has worked. Good news. If the EU and Ireland are OK with it then why reject it. Look out, here come the DUP. Are the DUP denying the will of the people? Or does it just show how complex the issue is and that they have genuine concerns. If the Cons had a decent majority they'd not be worried about DUP. But they don't. And then there's the rest of parliament. But significant for me that Boris has done a deal at least. But hung parliament and complexities of dealing do show the folly and injustice of regarding this as a simple binary matter. I guess coming out was an ideological matter and the challenges are around the practicalities of how that will work and/or the economic costs. Some focus on the former, some the latter.

I agree with your points, however Arlene has a skeleton in the wardrobe, that has been kicked into the long grass for a while. It was responsible for the break-up of the NI Assembly, as she would not resign. I have a feeling it may come to the fore, if needed:

The Benn Act hasn't worked - If Parliament votes against the new deal on Saturday compelling Boris to write for an extension, Mr Jucker has just said there will be no extension granted - meaning No Deal!

Can’t see it passing though Alan. If the DUP won’t vote for it then it can’t be that good. I’ll be writing to Arlene to see if she fancies sending someone to stand in my constituency then I have someone I’d feel comfortable voting for.
