i know a couple of Hibs fans that aren't too keen.

Gave a positive first interview , do not know much about him and as yet does not seem to have done a great deal as a manager, but sounds an improvement on people like Lee Clark etc. Wish him all the best and let's hope he can sign a few players that we need in the next week or so.

On a wee bit of a hiding to nothing isn't he? Sheridan built his team on 3 quick forwards, 2 of them have gone. So now get us promoted with no cash. Hopefully the winger will come and be good, be a good start

Edited to say, could the winger be Elsnik from Derby. Recalled after an average loan spell at Mansfield

New piece up on the clubs website..again very positive but stops short of saying "this is a big club".

Says he played with Lee Miller.

I think we might see some decent clobber in the coming months. Shez wasn't really up to it.

Right up there with the worst performances I've ever seen from us at BP. First game I took the missus to as well. She also saw a home defeat by Preston and hasn't been back since, leaving her with a record of P2 W0 D0 L2 F0 A5

Clearly not as soft and velvety as Sheridan's but the verbs seem to be roughly in the right place.

to be fair they had Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson up front we had Mark Beck and Lewis Guy (replaced by Adam Campbell at half time )

I’m cynical when it comes to this boards motives, but I can’t get away from this feeling that Steven Pressley has been brought in to be their fall guy, to deflect all the blame on if/when this “promotion challenge” all unravells.

If as I and many suspect, promotion is the last thing the club wants, wouldn’t it make sense to bring someone in who openly talks about wanting promotion and generally talks a good game to fans, then set him up to fail? The board and director of football can then ensure that the squad is weakened by losing players and deciding not to strengthen now that we’re in a position where there’s no chance of us being dragged into trouble. This is exactly what has happened so far this January, 4 out 1 in shows that. Im sure there’ll be plenty more nearly and trying transfer statements. Also a nice little contract for him where they can “terminate” it at the end of this season, putting all the blame on the outgoing manager. “We thank Steven for his efforts, but the results during the second part of the season have been disappointing, culminating in a mid table finish. We as directors feel that Steven isn’t the person to take the club forward next season.”

Genuinely want Pressley to do well, especially with his ideas of tapping into the Scottish market, but fear he’s being set up to fail this season.

I am pretty critical of the owners of the club, but i am thinking that the influence of EWM is taking hold. Holdsworth has been brought in by them and they have brought some professionalism back to the running.
I am impressed with Pressley's comments and hope he takes the chance.
Time will tell but i think this appointment is a good one. I just hope he is backed by the owners, whoever makes the big decisions.
Lets hope the better running gets us new shareholders with money to invest.

I think a reality check is needed here. Prior to the season starting many predicted a certain relegation battle, low-quality bargain basement signings due to the club's worsening financial situation and the time taken to appoint Sheridan. This would supposedly lead to us dropping into non-league, followed by inevitable administration and liquidation. Here we are mid-January, sixth in the league, we've lost one game in seven following our best run in ten years. Two of our best players have gone, but one will almost certainly return later this month when his club sign a new striker. We had to play a 17-year-old on the wing because of a shortage of players, but many on here advocate giving youth more of a chance. Our best defender has just signed a new deal and one of our stand-out performers has had his deal extended too. We didn't bring anyone else in this week following our first loss since the beginning of December, but we appointed a new manager who most seem happy with. In short, some people need to stop crying because we lost one game against Northampton. Win today and we'll have dropped three points out of a possible twenty four. Give over because it's embarrassing.

Although I think much of the criticism of the board is fair game, if I was as cynical about their motives as the OP seems to be, I really would cease to see the point of going to games at all.
Personally, I am not a big fan of wheeling and dealing in loanees and giving managers short-term contracts and I think it’s a bit of a seedy business, but we are in the play-off places , so it seems to be working , up to now. Still doesn’t mean I like it.

I think lakelandterrier has got it just about right, slowly but surely EWM’s influence is taking hold with Holdsworth the figurehead. People immediately called him out after his initial interview (mainly for criticising Curle) with few seemingly willing to give the bloke a chance. My impression is that he’s trying to make the whole place a bit more professional and financially savvy, the contract for Pressley just one instance - do well and we’ll extend, do badly and you’re out. No daft 2 year extensions promised which we may feel we have to honour in 6 months.

The transfer window’s a frustrating one but I seriously believe the lack of incoming signings is mostly down to the fact we didn’t have a manager. I’d rather judge a transfer window at the end rather than midway through and fully expect Pressley to have 3/4 bodies in by the end of the month, players of his choosing rather than of the DoF’s choosing. If you look at the BBC transfer window page there’s not a great deal of business being done so far anyway, maybe we just need to be patient!

This club or any at this level can’t avoid bringing in loanees, but it should be done in a more careful way having to rely on them, and only have them on short loan deals can and does back fire as we all know, but the biggest downer is in our case we need to get money in and if we are not getting our own players in improving them then selling on it’s not good business apart from loanees getting points on the board they are not of any long term benefit.

If Pressley does well he will go to another club after 6 months just like our loan players - we can't even compete with Chesterfield!

It’s just a little frustrating that we haven’t brought anyone in yet, but if we can win today then there is no harm done.
With the austerity and being in the play-off places, we are acheiving more with less and that is fair enough. It just seems to get the buzz back in the club and attendances increasing, people have to believe we are going somewhere as a club.
You ain’t going to get crowds on the up by saying we have got no money and can’t afford to sign anyone etc.
If we get in the play-offs this season, which I think we will, then it’s a good effort by all concerned.
As others have said,you would like to see us signing some players of our own, but hopefully that is the next step.

May be worth remembering that we have the equivalent of a new player with us - one that we know will be excellent for us. We must be getting towards the time when Jason Kennedy can do more than a few minutes and can show us what he's made of again.

Better him than some untried kids on loan from Championship clubs who may or may not turn out to be any good.

Tbh not really expecting much off Kennedy after such a long time out as much as I like him

I think any prospective candidates were always gonna relish going into a club in the playoff positions as it’s prob a rare job to get. I’d think whoever got it would say what Presley’s been saying. The fans would go crackers if he said he was coming in to consolidate. Let’s just hope the buggers do back him.

Astonishingly find myself agreeing with Frank. The club is to be run as a professional, lean, break even business. If we go up its a bonus. The impression is that Curle over paid, that's not going to happen any more. I think it's good for the long term health of the club
