No doubt Corbyn and Abbot will be dancing with joy along with all the other bleeding hearts. I hope the government stands firm and contests this ludicrous situation. Apparently there are reports from other security sources that she was more than just a "comfort" wife in fact she was heavily involved in ISIS activities. I see what you mean Pete, but look at it this way. She will have good case as they UK is on dodgy ground legally, so why fight it? Restore her citizenship and let her return, but give her no privileges. No protection programmes; no police cordon at the airport; no protection from the press. Let her experience the vulnerability felt by victims of ISIS. Let her take her own chances. Faced with that, there’s no way she’ll come back and it’s the cheapest win/win option for the UK.

If she does come back? I’d give her 48 hours.

But a shed load of money will be spent on her protection when she gets back - she will never need to 'work' again!

As she's married to a Dutch national it should be their problem not ours. Let them have the problem

It's not just her in the camp though. There are other people there who have fled the fighting, people who as far as we know haven't done anything wrong.

Oh wake up smell the coffee and listen to what the Kurds are saying about the occupants of that camp and what they believe it will become if it isn't liquidated one way or the other and very quickly.

You're wrong. Collateral damage can often come back to haunt us. We see reports about it on the news, that our forces took out a terrorist cell but 2 or 3 civilians also died in the strike. We look at it objectively and we rationalize those deaths by saying it's better that a small number of civilians died, rather than letting the terrorists slip through our fingers and possibly kill a lot more people. And I do understand the argument there. But we also need to bear in mind that any time we kill a civilian in collateral damage, we might be making an enemy out of their friends and relatives. People who otherwise wouldn't have attacked us, might feel that they need to avenge their friends death.

If we are going to say that collateral damage is ok, then fine. But it has to be extremely limited. If you're going to advocate that it's ok to kill some civilians for a greater good, then it should only be to protect many other lives from an immediate threat. Now at the moment, this woman doesn't present such a threat. She's guilty of a lot of things and should face justice, but she isn't actually a threat to anybody. So I don't think we justify killing lots of other civilians just to kill her in a strike. It's disproportionate (maybe not to her, depends what your views are on whether she deserves a death penalty) but certainly to the other people in that camp who may be completely innocent, and a lot of who are probably there because of the disruption that our interference in that part of the world has caused in the first place.a
