My opinion is: one of the reasons we're having a respectable season so far is that he isn't anywhere near the team.

I look at it this way.
Dickenson is well into his third year at the club.
Purely in terms of stats, he's probably averaging around 17 games and 1 goal per season.
In terms of performance, his technical ability on the ball is probably down there with the worst players I've ever seen in a blue shirt. It's fundamental for any player to be able to pass the ball to players wearing the same colour shirt, Dickenson is not capable of this basic skill.
His strengths? He's left footed and can kick the ball hard in the general direction of the goal. For me that's not enough.
I have zero sympathy for him because he's been paid a very decent wage by the club for three years and has basically contributed nothing of value in return.
It was absolutely a mistake to extend his contract - and am I happy he's injured and not keeping Charters, Gibson, Armer, Moxon or even Dennis out of the team? You bet I'm happy - and I'm going to be honest enough to admit that.

Professional footballers are extremely lucky and are in a privileged position compared to the rest of the workforce. I have enough empathy for them in comparison to those who work in the health service, essential services and those who work long hours in crappy jobs and struggle to make ends meet. At the end of the day if they're injured, or if they're deemed not good enough, they have the option of getting a proper job and doing an honest day's work like anyone else.
Dickenson will heal perfectly well and will be physically fine, it's not like he's lost a limb or has a serious disease. Some people have lost all perspective just because he's a footballer they like.
And as regards "management skills", Mr Banks. I would question the competence of any manager who gives Dickenson a contract, you're correct. Maybe he makes a cracking cup of tea, gives a next level foot rub or is capable of clearing the cones on the training ground away in record time, who knows?
