It's very different in the pubs in botch these days.
It can be pretty lively in some places pre-covid on a Saturday afternoon.
A lot of large groups seem to descend from the station from over the border, west Cumbria.
There isnt the same potential to act like a lunatic , pile imillions n to a bar , act like a gadgie.
I guess a lot of people just dont bother.
Probably the way it should be really but very different to what it has been like.

Over the top heavy handedness , for me. It's not something I like to see. They just look like they are enjoying themselves way too much.
It would be easy enough to have reinforcements available if needed.
You would have thought there was a major riot with the amount of police around.
I'm aware that there is potential for football related trouble but its hard to justify that amount of resource being deployed.

If they'd done nothing and the town had been overrun with Glaswegians there would have been uproar.

By being proactive they have headed off any potential trouble.

We've seen in years past the over the top policing when Carlisle have had a half-decent away following come to BP. It was straight out of the 1970's handbook of treating every football supporter as a thrid class citizen.

Police everywhere at the station and round botch, creaming themselves off over this.
Lord knows how they are going to cope when Carlisle hit the big time (a matter of time with Beech at the helm).

Spent years living near Hearts' ground. Streets were basically a toilet after either cheek of the arse visited. Saw one Celtic fan (female) having a shit in a kids playground.

Aberdeen were the worst for fighting though.
