Club have announced a partnership with Durham based Park View Sports Academy to focus on tapping into +16 age talent in NE. Will invlove us having an u19 side playing in the National Football Youth League, and will mean less disruption to players we pick up for two years. Seems like a good idea all round to help access talent released by NUFC, Sunderland and Boro.

Yes all looks very positive.

Last line of the article on the News and Star site says Nigel Clibbens was instrumental in setting up the link with Park View. Well we knew it wouldn't have been Keith. ;-)

Great stuff, some players just need that extra couple of years to develop after their apprenticeship. I wonder if a deal is in place where any of the lads who can make the grade, that they are definitely ours, last thing we want is to monitor all this and a club or agent dive in and take them somewhere else, I know an agency mentioned alongside the "billionaire" are signing up a lot of college players around the north east, if only one of them makes it they make their money.

But all looks really positive and hopefully in next couple of years we have some lads coming over in to the club.

Well done all involved!

Agree it does look very positive and I suppose it would give the lads coming out of our youth team that KC clearly didn’t think were ready to go into our first team squad somewhere to play for a year if required. I take it we must be paying a amount of money for this. Wonder if it’s coming out of the first team budget or if a sponsor could be helping.

Shows that they're definitely trying to increase the emphasis put on the youth team and getting some saleable assets again.

For clarity, it’s a completely separate set-up from our Youth Team, and appears to be for lads who are released at 16 who don’t get picked up by Pro Clubs.

This new partnership will provide pathways for 16 to 19-year-old footballers who are not affiliated to professional club’s academies the chance to be part of a football scholarship scheme, representing Carlisle United in a National League structure.

So basically, we should already be picking up the best of the cast offs for our Youth Team, then the leftovers can have a second chance in this new set-up.

I am not too sure that there is much to be gained from this. That same academy have a side this season in the league playing as "Berwick Rangers".

For every Berwick Rangers you've also got a Coventry, Crystal Palace, Birmingham, Burnley and two Sunderlands.

Total cop out and waste of time

A proper development squad is whats needed and Jenkins should fund it like the guy at Fleetwood does.

This just doesn't make any sense whatsoever one-minute they're talking about it being a 16-18 north east based Acadamy to mirror the one at BP. Then they're going on about it being somewhere to send the players at the end of their scholarships for a year.

They clearly cant see that all they're doing is getting involved in sham scheme lads who get finish their academy at 18 that the club think might be good enough should join a development squad who would have an arrangement with a non league club to take advantage of dual registration where they will play men's football at the weekend for them and midweek for our development squad as thats the only way to find out if they.ll be good enough.

I just can't understand this fixation with education don't they realise that there are millions of lads out there who.ve had enough of that by the time they get to 16 and just want to concentrate on making a career in football where their skills will find their own level whether its the PL or the Unibond and all forcing them to study does is piss them off.

I'd guess it's something to do with the law.

This seems to be what the academy boys are known as ...anybody remember how the partnership with this NE Academy works. Just reading their pre-season fixtures on the website..all NE teams with bizarrely Plymouth Argyle slotted in on Aug 8th..played at the Riverside

I think they are a bit of a 2nd chance/last chance saloon for the young lads released by academies or who never got taken on but who have developed later (or still hold delusions of being a pro footballer).

Probably about 1 in 300 might be any good and the others will hopefully get some qualifications of some sort.

Not sure I understand the purpose of this tie up. Are the club going to get players coming through that will benefit the first team or is it merely a tie up with no benefits.

I thought we'd benefit from being able to pluck some of the better players for our youth team but a couple have gone to Sunderland so I've no idea.

NC explained how it works at CUSG.

Basically the Park View Academy approached the Club for the link. They then purchase all their Kit and Training Gear from us.

We get first dibs on any ‘prospects’ and the lad who went to Sunderland, we said ‘no thanks’ about. If any Player has said no to then went on to a good career, they’d obviously review why they said no etc.

Syria B has similar attendance average's to league but with much lower turnovers.

Chievo Verona has an average of 3,730 this season.

How old is this kid? I very much doubt there was a fee paid.
