Shocked at letting jones go but giving Webster and bridge a contact. Not surprised though. Hopefully Sagaf doesn’t be another that gets away.

Not at all surprised Webster is getting a renewal, he’s been good since Beech took over. He was absolutely shite under Pressley, but has improved a huge amount with some decent coaching and having a decent partner in Hayden.

Surprised by Bridge but there were a couple of games where he showed decent signs. Forest Gree away and Newport at home were decent performances

We’re going to need to sign some experienced heads, of the 13 currently under contract, the oldest is 24yo!

I think Alessandra will still be a good player for us. We need experience and he seems to have a great attitude. He’s probably on a fairly low wage too. I’m guessing wages had played a big part in some of the decisions like Mike Jones.

We need a goalkeeper!

Alessandra has a good football brain which is useful in a league where you find a lot of brainless players.

Won’t score plenty, but can play a load of positions. I think he’s worth keeping in the squad.

Webster got better under Beech, but he still wasn't good enough for most of the games I went to. Mainly, he got a bit more luck in terms of his mistakes not being punished. And from what I see his attitude's not great either. Gutted we've offered him a new deal personally.

I have to agree I wouldn’t have offered Webster a new deal. He has massively improved but I’d say it’s too risky a deal with the amount of poor performances he put into the early part of the season.

If G.Jones and Webster do sign again then doubt we’ll see any more Defenders in?

Jones and Anderton at FB, Webster, Hayden, Hunt and Mellish at CB, then of the Development lads, Birch and Barnes play FB and Lightfoot and Wilson play CB.

That’s potentially 10 Defenders in total - Even allowing for say Mellish potentially transitioning to Midfield!

Sad to see McKirdy go. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea and he's erratic but clearly a decent player and I really enjoyed (mostly) watching him play.
Can be a bit monochrome these days going to games and nice to watch a player do something a bit different to the rest and I liked the attitude, rolled down socks and pulled up shorts.
Just as likely to score the winner as have a row with a fan but usually something to talk about with him.
Warts and all though I thought he did well enough to be offered a new deal and there's clearly talent there. It would be hard to argue that Jack Bridge offered more throughout the season.
Good luck Harry.

Agree about Jones the glue that held the team together and disappointed about Sagaf he was definately worth giving another chance to even on a month to month contract. Everyone at the club other than Beech rated him highly.

I think that is a good point, Windy. He certainly played better fired up and perhaps needed a boll***ing every now and again from a more vocal captain.
I think as well playing in a side that had Loft, Sorensen and Hope up front at various points in the year didn't help. Not sure any of them could hold their hands up and say they had a good season.
I'm guessing, perhaps, that he was just seen as being more trouble than he's worth and perhaps also not consistent enough.
Shame for me as I thought he did well.

Rumour has it that Mckirdy phoned Clibbens in January claiming to be from Wigan saying they wanted Charlie Birch to replace the lad who was meant to be going to Milan. Clibbens was convinced he was talking to a Wigan official. That won’t have made him popular when they found out

Second clear out in succession..rather trust Beech to rebuild than Pressley. Seems we always have stacks of defenders and few attackers. Just glad Patrick is still under contract and Kayode due back under further loan.

Pleased-50/50-Disappointed
Retained (If they accept)
Bridge - 50/50. Not good enough to be in a starting 11, I think Beech will have kept him on in the hope that he fills up the bench. Not a terrible substitute mind.
Alessandra - Pleased. Another decent squad player to have but I doubt Beech imagines him being our main striker. Him and Kayode looked really good on the ball towards end of last season so I think Lewis is a good player to have in the squad for different game plans.
Gethin Jones - Pleased. Will be chuffed if he signs a new contract. Really solid defender at this level who could definitely do a job in league 1. Will be surprised if he doesn’t have any better offers though.
Byron Webster - Disappointed. Yes he looked better under Beech, but he was terrible for most of the season and I don’t see how he can get any better at his age. Cost us so many goals and if it was for better opposition would have cost us so much more. Need to be aiming higher than him.
Released:
Collin- Pleased. Absolutely class last season and at times this season. However became erratic at times and seemed to start getting a bit of an attitude on social media etc.
Etuhu- Disappointed. Don’t disagree with the decision as he is older now and clearly injury prone. However disappointed to see him go. Started looking really solid before injury.
Louis Gray - Pleased. Whenever he got a chance or played reserves he didn’t look good enough and not young enough to wait for and develop.
Jack Iredale- Pleased. Showed good signs but again we need to aim higher. Wasn’t good enough at defending and when tried as winger he wasn’t good enough at attacking.
Mike Jones- Disappointed. I’m assuming that his wage would be too high for us to pay considering his age and injury history. Really class player for us and alongside a solid mucky midfielder could play for a very good side.
Kerr- Never really broke into first team so trusting that he was far off the standard.
Knight-Percival- Pleased. Couldn’t even get into the squad a lot of time and when we were shipping in lots of goals he was never even the first back up. Clearly not good enough.
Mckirdy- Pleased. Gave us some class moments (Cardiff, Walsall etc) but horrendous attitude and often hides. Predict he will get another decent move and do the same. Play well so everyone loves him then will slowly start growing an attitude.
Mo Sagaf- 50/50. When he first broke into team he looked really smart, Lummy especially liked him. However I trust Beech’s judgment on the whole and he clearly never really rated him.
Stefan Scougall- Pleased. Throughout his whole time with us it felt like we were waiting to see the ‘championship Scougall’ but it never really came. Brilliant work rate and always gave his all but just gave the ball away too much and didn’t create enough.

We were terrible for what is now last season, anyone who is offered a new contract can count themselves very lucky.

McKirdy was good to watch just for his antics, while everything else was crap/boring under Presley. Useless but entertaining.

Surprised Webster and Bridge, have been offered contracts, suspect Webster will be cover for Hunt and Bridge will be used from the bench.

I think Jonah could still do a job for us but wages will have been the reason he's gone.

Not fussed about Mckirdy, drifted out of games too often, he's got potential to go a long way and he knows it, and he probably thinks he's too good for us.

Wish Beech had given Mo more game time but he must have seen enough of him in training to let him go.

If Beechs January window signings are anything to go by I'm hopeful that we'll be getting better players in.

Bit surprised at the Bridge decision, but other than that no major surprises.

The side Pressley assembled simply wasn't good enough to play his system, with the majority of his recruits simply not being good enough for league football.

Beech came in, made a few tweaks, brought his own signings in and suddenly we turned a corner sitting comfortable in mid-table. The upturn in Webster's form and the emergeance of Hayden were massively part of this so I can understand why he'd want to keep that partnership for next season.

I think Gethin Jones started well, looked composed in a very poor side but as the season went on he looked more and more average. If he signs then great, but there will certainly be full-backs just as good, if not better than him available.

Bridge looked more capable on the wing than he ever did through the middle, I assume his wages are tiny so that would suggest it's a gamble, but it might pay off. He looked useful and tricky when he was deployed out wide.

Alessandra is an experienced pro, he knows how to read the game, and shift match situations in his favour e.g. winning a free-kick. Would have him any day over Hope and think it's a sensible decision to keep him, as a squad player if nothing else.

Bit Harsh on Mike Jones maybe, he was very consistent for the last couple seasons, but fell out of favour under Sheridan and wouldn't have been surprised if he'd gone last season but he is nearly 33 now, and has a history for injuries.

McKirdy was a gobs***e but did have something about him. Will probably go and sign for Morecambe and become the next Kevin Ellison.

Collin was exceptional last season and reverted to type this season, was a dodgy keeper first time he was here and is still a dodgy keeper now. That Dewhurst is highly rated so wouldn't be surprised if he returns. Wouldn't mind having Joe Fryer back either.

Can't argue with the others, not good enough. Fingers crossed Beechy Boy knows how to recruit players better than Elvis did.

I did like Sagaf but more so when the midfield was Jones,Scougall and Bridge,I thought he deserved a game ahead of 2 of them.

As the season went on I wasn’t too fussed as I thought Watt done ok and Jones was better,so him being released isn’t a problem for me.

Disappointed for Mike Jones, but age/wage etc goes against him.

Bridge, from last year,I don’t care if there were signs in 2 games, does not deserve a contract offer Agra’s of others,he needs to learn from last season and hopefully he will and come back more determined.

Harry-on ability deserved an offer, don’t think the manager could handle him,not sure if that’s poor from Harry or weak from the manager, could be both.

With all the free agents though it’s another chance to build a team,it’s about time we get it right!

I think Beech can spot a player though and knows what is needed in this league, unlike SP.

When Webster and Bridge signed last Summer, both were 1yr deals with ‘a review’.

Assuming our ‘review’ will involve lower offers given the current situation in the game, and given they’ve not officially been made yet?

I think this shows Beech to be a weak manager. Keeping Bridge the bottler and releasing Jones is just shite. Mckirdy for all his faults scored goals just needed a manager to look after him obviously Beech couldn't. Beech has his favourites that's for sure. Things will be really tight money wise next season so best he have some good plans or we will once again be down with the dead men.
