This could get a bit messy.
Derby game v Chorley will go ahead with Derby fielding youth team due to covid outbreak.
Villa in a similar position v Liverpool, but there is a suggestion that game will be postponed (because they are playing Liverpool not Chorley).
Shrewsbury have cases so their game with Southampton has been postponed. Is this because they don't have enough players to field a team including youth players - unlikely I would say?
Then you will have a raft of postponed games because of the weather.
So if some games are off anyway due to the weather you are going to get a backlog of matches that have to be squeezed in.
The traditional slot for replays/rearranged games a week and a half after the original date has already been filled up by several premier league matches being scheduled into those dates. Those have already been snapped up for tv viewing so cant see them being cancelled.
There's going to be some unhappy people whatever is decided.

Cynicism aside, does anyone know why Derby are going ahead and the Southampton and Aston Villa matches are off? What are the rules for having games called off?
This also applies to the premier matches which have already been postponed, in particular the Everton Man City game, where I am sure City could put out 3 teams to beat Everton.

Looks like Villa under 16s,Liverpool fielding a strong team no doubt wanting to overturn the 5 goal deficit from the league game.

Mourinho said Spurs semi v brentford was their biggest game of the season.
There would have been an outcry if FA Cup 3rd weekend was cancelled.
Villa more or less forfeiting their place.
Shrewsbury get another chance.
Liverpool fielding very strong team in spite of all the complaints about fixture pile up. Some Liverpool first team players not getting much game time.
Teams seem up for the cup more these days.
Think having no replays is fair enough but not postponing the games in these circumstances is odd.

1 - 1 At half time but Villa will need to make changes as some of them have to be home no later than 9.30.

It’s great for them, but it’s not really a good spectacle for viewers. Not really competitive, the gulf is far too big. Where as games like Crawley v Leeds for example you always feel like there’s a good chance of an upset if the premier league side is slightly off their game as was the case today.

This Marine v Spurs game reminds me of when we played Tipton about 10 years ago, just not competitive at all. Spurs can pretty much play at walking pace with a weakened team and win easily.

I can’t disagree that’s it’s good to watch and better for mental health etc etc

Far better than antiques roadshow.

But.... I couldn’t get into it after watching the many supporters outside waiting for the Tottenham bus after two ladies got arrested for sitting on a park bench yesterday.

People shout out about putting these games on TV instead of the usual Arsenals V Newcastle but after 30 minutes it was over.

It was never going to be contest but people were interested just in case. I was more interested in it than the usual games they put on.

The frustrating bit in this sort of situation is when the second half is played at walking pace.

Agreed, I didn't want Marine to get slaughtered but it was a bit pedestrian. The gap was a bit too far, still a great day for Marine and the money will make them safe for a few seasons to come. That's the true magic of the cup.

I would still take a match like that any time, rather than an all premiership tie. Today proved that, with a cracking game from Crawley and Leeds. One where you just didn't know if Leeds would come roaring back and the result is what the FA Cup is all about.

Cracker with this Southampton v Shrewsbury tie that got P-P.

Seemingly they’re waiting until the next round Draw is done to decide what to do!

If Soton/Shrews draw a Team playing in Europe, then Soton will get a walkover as won’t be time to fit it in.

If Soton/Shrews draw a Team who don’t play in Europe, they want to play the original game on 4th Round day, then play what will be the 4th Round game on a midweek before the 5th Round.

Incredibly amateur...

Oh, they’re also going to draw the 5th Round right after they’ve drawn the 4th Round so that teams can plan ahead for any possibilities!

Some good stuff this weekend, including the game right now.
The two interviews from the young lad at Villa and the lad at Crawley who had the bad car accident show you that despite all the crap in the game it can still be a beautiful one.

Mourinho bringing on a 16 year old at half time who was released by Liverpool at 10 was a very clever move. Reinforced after he scored..

They’ve now postponed Leeds v Southampton next midweek to allow Southampton v Shrewsbury take place, fitting it in before the 4th Round is played on Saturday 23rd Jan...
