It looks like there will be a wage cap anyway so Salford may feel they need to release their higher earners. Gibson will have been on a very high wage.

Interesting article on the Price of Football showing the median loss in Div 2 was £800K last (full) season. Skewed a bit by Bury and a couple of other clubs, but even so.
The virus has really shone a light on this.

I would say wages will be halved in L2 / National next season.

Swindon chief executive was on talksport this afternoon and reckoned 30% of L2 clubs will be going to the wall unless they get money from somewhere.

Personally I woudnt want Gibson. Might be a good player but has a lot of baggage.

Whilst theirs a potential wage cap, clubs will be reluctant to extend deals etc...

If I was Salford and had money, I’d be getting as many players of my books as possible at present - theirs going to be a lot of quality L2 & L1 players willing to move their.

Potentially could be looking at Wiseman and McArdle if we loose Gethin or Webster - given their previous time at Rochdale - would imagine Beech would have coached them or know individuals who could offer information them.

With regards to signing, I can’t see any clubs announcing new players until the days before or upon the commencement of pre season - which if L1 don’t get themselves sorted will likely be delayed - it’s my opinion L2 won’t be able to start till September onwards - L1 unlikley to finish until mid / late July. With what information their is about furlough - you can’t furlough new employees - so why would a club sign new players until theirs a need too ? - likelihood of this is all players offered extensions sign for 12 months. From our perspective Webster, Allesandra and Bridge certinaly will, Gethin might back himself.

We were after Gime Toure In January apparently who rejected their contract offer to play higher. Seems they think he’s inconsistent and lacks passion. Might be worth a punt.

See Devitt was off back to Blackpool. His career has hardly glittered since he left BP. If he could persuade Blackpool to pay up his contract he might be open to a return to BP. If Beech thought he fit the system

Hardy and Facey would be players I would look at if I was Beech, both Manchester based. Facey can play right back and centre half so may be useful. Hardy is an attacking midfielder. Both were highly rated when in the city academy
