I'm pro VAR, but only if it is used properly ie to clear up any clear and obvious mistakes and not to disallow goals for someones toenail/armpit being offside.
It is the lawmakers and VAR operators who are at fault not VAR in my opinion.

You would watch a game in the past and it would hit someone's arm or something and you would say 'you aren't going to get a penalty for that.'
Same kind of set up with marginal offsides.
With tackles you get some very debatable ones.
The case for VAR was to stop a Maradona handball or similar dreadful injustice.
The only way I can think of it being resolved is that you are allowed a couple of reviews similar to cricket and you have to look at it as bring should the referee have reasonably been capable of reaching a different decision, as opposed to something that you need 10 replays to judge and even then opinion differs

Football isn't meant to be like this. Looking for a toenail offside or a foul for the slightest touch, or handball for a ball blasted at you. It's all bollocks. And why does every free kick, corner or throw in take at least a minute to take? People that don't understand the game are ruining it.

If it needs 10 replays to make a judgement it is not clear and obvious and the referees original decision or non decision should stand.

In my view it should only be used when the referee asks for it to be used. On the occasions he does ask for assistance the fourth official should have one or maybe two looks at it on the pitchside monitor and make a quick decision. No control centre 200 miles away, no looking at one decision 10 times and no silly lines on the screen to determine someone’s armpit being offside - all done with the naked eye in 10-15 seconds.

Was listening to the radio on way home from work yesterday when Villa got a late penalty that went to var. one commentator still thought it was a pen whilst the other didn’t. My view similar to Franks is the ref should ask for it but go over himself and take a look right away. Prob is it could end up taking all bloody day

Last nights WBA penalty call was handled very badly. The VAR officials put the ref in a bad position. He'd made a decision, they did nothing, but get him to look again. I'm sure he changed it based on the movement of the ball, which was touched by Fernandes. A tough call, already made, then reversed, but not by the VAR officials who bottled it. All round, a mess.

The Man U penalty was nailed on, the flight of the ball was changed by the defenders hands being in a unnatural position, no dispute, them's the rules.

The trouble is the pundits expect some ' give and take ', well their is none, the rules should be nailed on if VAR is used. We need more transparency like Rugby League where the video referee go's through it frame by frame with the ref, and we can all hear the commentary.

The day VAR comes to the lower leagues will be a dark day.

Klopps philosophy fails when the full backs and centre halves are prevented from being able to hit long diagonals to the wingers who play in behind, a variation on the long ball for me, they can play short stuff as well to be fair. Beech has stopped teams being able to play out from the back and had pinned in the full backs with quick wingers. Two of are goals weren’t pretty yesterday but that was fine, too many teams are trying to score the perfect goal.

Have you ever actually watched Liverpool under Klopp ? Would say they are a direct high pressing team , they don't play it about the use the pase of the wingers and launch it .

I think the problem at Premier level is the difference in quality between the top (richest) teams and the rest.
The top teams have the quality to pass it around and keep possession, whilst the lesser teams feel they can't compete and just sit deep with everyone behind the ball.
Take Newcastle v Chelsea yesterday. Even at 1 and 2 goals down Newcastle were happy to sit back and let Chelsea have the ball. Chelsea probably raised a bigger sweat during training than at St. James's. This is obviously made worse this season without the home supporters urging their team forward.
The beauty of our league is that the teams are much more even and are prepared to attack more which leaves more space.

Players at our level are mercenaries. Don’t think many of our current squad are here due to their love of Carlisle United.

sorry we’ve forgotten your not allowed to criticise the nations favourite team, the outrage I must’ve caused. The ‘tickets are impossible to get’ brigade will be out in force to put me in my place. How dare I say that there gengen press launch it and hope that salah and mane are quicker than their defence tactics is simply long ball stuff. In all fairness they’re the most affective team in the country and do play some nice stuff but no doubt pace and power has taken over from skill and technicality as proven in the Spurs city game yesterday.

The officials obviously missed those incidents but VAR would see them and the referee would be notified. He would then have gone over to the monitor, realised he and his linesman have missed it. He would then have disallowed the 'goal', sent the cheating **** off (therefore his brilliant goal wouldn't have happened) and hey presto we would have gone on to win, beat Belgium in the semi and wup the Germans in the final to win the world cup!!!!

And what I’m saying is the officials maybe didn’t “obviously missed those incidents”, they may well have thought something wasn’t right but without being 100% sure they had to give the goal on both occasions. With VAR they could have asked for help and both handballs would’ve been spotted.

I’m saying not necessarily. He may well have thought something was array but as he wasn’t sure then he had to give the goal. If he had had the option of asking for help he may well have seeked it.
