Why was Beech chosen to manage Carlisle

With a reported 100 applicants for the Carlisle United managers job Why did Chris beech get the job ?

I’m struggling to see why he was chosen ? If it was because he brought youth through at Rochdale then he’s abandoned that at Carlisle .

I see nothing on his record at Rochdale that would say “ perfect fit “ for Carlisle, and now his excuses after Fleetwood, Oldham and now Cambridge are becoming repetitive , have the board and holdsworth got this horribly wrong ?

Promised the board decent football with enough to make fans happy without steam rolling the league. Make a bit of money by developing younger players. Cheap. I think a more experienced manger with a few signings could do very well with this lot.

By giving Beech the title 'Head Coach' it seems to me that the lines of responsibility have been blurred. When we had a 'manager' it was apparent who was directly responsible for results on the pitch.

Personally I haven't been impressed with player recruitment since it became the responsibility of Director of Football, as such I'm not totally convinced that the mess is totally Beech's fault.

Holdsworth was appointed because he’s an acquaintance of Mr Day. His only job in football previously being as a failed manager at Lincoln and Mansfield.

So it’s not surprising we are where we are if he’s in charge.

He did pretty well last season considering restraints...
This season he's brought in about a dozen players and now needs the chance to work with them ....?
Where's all the feel good, gone ?
As the players were brought in , there was a general feeling that they were good players...
Wev had 3 lousy results..

Just seen his interview with Andy Hall. He says there’s nothing more they can do preparation wise. And if they hadn’t been so rough we’d have had a better chance! :D

Hopefully he turns it around as he's seems a nice enough guy. He may be a great coach who can develop players but you can be a great coach and also a poor manager and vice versa.

That’s why it’s such a bleak outlook at the moment.

Beech signed players fairly early, has had as much time in the pre-season as most other clubs and seems to have done all the preparation he wants.

Outcome is we have been well beaten in all three fixtures while looking disorganised and short on ideas. We now have dipping confidence to add to the mix.

I have accumulated a wealth of football knowledge and tactical acumen over time. So allow me to offer some insights;

A. He was cheap
B. He was available

Sometimes you have got to allow football people like Steve Pattinson get on and make the necessary and smart football decisions.

I thought his interview after the Cambridge game was Abbott-esque bordering on delusional. I'm surprised he didn't roll out the old 'Plenty of Positives' after another humping.

The performances have been shocking so far but we've got to give the bloke a chance.

As said he did alright last year and these are a youngish group of players, hopefully it'll click soon and we'll be away.
