Rebecca Welsh.
I know we've had female assistant refs before, but I think this will be the first time for a female ref at BP.
Good luck to her, I hope she does great.

She’s got a lot of good reviews!

You just want a referee to be fair, fit and know the rules and apply them fairly. Doesn’t matter if you’re female/male or a duck if you can do it well you should be able to reach the top.

She’s going to award a dodgy winning penalty to Scunthorpe in the 90th minute now, isn’t she.

I agree.
The standard of refereeing over the years has been appalling.
The more the door is open for the best people for the job to be given the job, regardless of age, gender , race and so on, it can only be a good thing for the game.

I don’t mind having a lady reffing but a Geordie is a different thing! :D

This is only her fourth league game and she’ll never have experienced anything like the paddock. ;)

She did a good job in our pre season game at Hebburn, when challenged about a decision she explained what she had seen, rather than fob the player's off like most refs do at this level.

I watched a Reds matched refereed by a female official and she was better than a lot of the blokes I've seen doing the role.

She can't be any worse than Andy Haines!
