We need a couple of leaders on the pitch, when we concede, miss an easy chance or make a mistake everyone looks to the ground and let's their shoulders drop. The opposition must love seeing us react like that, Guy is not a captain or leader, if you are not a physical or vocal leader you need to lead by example, Guy is currently doing neither this season, awful passing and an inability to beat the first man at set pieces.
We don't have any obvious leaders in our squad, I do worry that this is due to our management team not wanting confrontation from any old heads on the field. Bringing the youngsters through is good business sense but football sense dictates that in order to keep stability on the pitch when our best youngsters are sold on, is to have a core of solid mature league 2 player's.
We need an old gobby centre half who'll put anything that comes near him into row Z, but also with the ability to talk the younger players around him through the game. We need a midfielder who when under pressure can find one of his own team mates with something not resembling a hospital pass. And we need a forward who can play with his back to goal and hassle defenders, not necessarily with skills but bloody hard work.
Unless our current squad and management have an epiphany, only a good January transfer market is going to save us.
