I can't see Vancooten wanting to come any further north than Stevenage. He is under contract so it would require a fee. Sounds like agents trying to drum up some business. Gillingham or Wimbledon might suit him.

I’d take Rhys Bennett back in a flash. Surprised he’s struggled in league one

Doesn't Simpson have to bring his Holdsworth 2.0 in before we think about signing any players?

There must have been 75 players on loan in the national league last year, the vast majority18-22. If the idea is progression for the young kids, then the best ones can move up a division. If they've played a year in division 5 then they should be less of a risk than Young and Dinzeyi. Alex Hunt who was at Grimsby then Oldham got good reviews. Sinclair Armstrong at Aldershot, Joe Lewis at Torquay.

Another one .... Considering Simmo hasn't set up he's recruitment system yet we're getting linked to a lot of players .

He's got some cv for the 4th division. Another Clough or James Bailey?

Will be an interesting few months to see what Simmo comes up with. Would be nice if he could come up with another Bridges looking to get their career back on track, or someone from his England U18 days who has fallen from favour.

Wasn't it the u20s ? Looked through that team non of them seem to be realistic at this level all have had good careers so far.

When you see players who have dropped down the divisions, part of you thinks that they must not exactly have imagined their career ending up at the the likes of Carlisle, but then another part of me thinks they must have a bit of resilience to overcome a lot of disappointments and keep going .
Good interview with Mountfield, when he was at the legends game, when he said he came because he felt wanted.

The last Simmo era, we seemed to have a few experienced pros that he got the best out of (he didnt necessarily sign all of them).

I doubt Simmo is the kind of manager who will pander to divas this is what makes me feel optimistic we can get the right sort of characters in.

The only bit I'm not sure on is how much players get paid , relatively, to those days as I am led to believe that the sums are pretty modest, compared to what players will have been paid for higher division clubs.

Simmo is the type of person who can motivate a player who has dropped down , I actually think we would have seen a very different Clough under him as well . I read part of Patrick's interview in the FL paper how he talked about how Simmo have him the confidence to feel that he could play as a striker (which is a position he was not confident in ).

Seems FGR and Carlisle are being linked to everyone released on Twitter... :o

I think at our level you need a manager that others of influence in the game trust and respect...100% need that if you want half reasonable loanees to come here.

Tremendously excited to see what Simmo can do..
I expect players to sign who have a role to play in an actual playing plan instead of our usual scattergun idea of signing 12 midfielders and a panic signing of a striker on loan

Danny Elliott of Boston been scouted it is alleged

Cooke and Sutton have ben released at Bradford, both are reasonable. Matty Daly played well at Hartlepool on loan, moved across to Bradford and didn't get much game time. Good attacking midfielder

Any player getting 10k a week or whatever as a fringe player in the championship you'd hope would have the brains to be saving for the day when it stops :p

People live within means , that often means if someone earns 10k they will live a 10k per week life style.

It's why bankruptcy is so much higher in football , as general income rises as people get older , whereas their income falls and stops.
