In most situations the manager would then have the final say on whether the player would actually be signed or not. The situation with Rodgers appears to be that he was just part of the discussion about who they should be looking at.

LVG has done alright this weekend hasn't he? Game lost 7 minutes in; hammered after only 20 minutes; Rooney still useless; ludicrous selection and tactics; blown away by a title rival - and hardly anyone is talking about it, because of Rodgers!

Shows how important Sturridge is to Liverpool like - just come back from a year out, playing in a poor team, and he already has as many league goals in 3 games as Kane and Rooney have in 15 between them. Had he been fit last season Liverpool may not be looking for a new manager now.

Worst of the big 4 English Clubs is Arsenal for me this season, failing to attain a point against those two sides in the CL is simply horrific. May as well just finish bottom, increase their chances stacks for winning the Premier League if they do I think.
