Do you mean Islam is, and Christianity is not? Sunni Islam may think a Caliph is God's voice on earth, the Catholic Church is the same about the Pope. Is that also a creeping plague?

You actually should read some unbiased views of Islam.

So we've gone from butchery on the streets of a major world capital to how Kfc slaughter their poultry to branding anyone with a different view to their own as a daily mail reader or a bigot. Amazing. Anyone offer any solutions to the issue? or will it go away on it's own?

From looking on latest news streams it appears the French have arrested 23 people and placed over 100 more under house arrest, they've recovered weapons including rocket launchers as well. Does the swiftness of these arrests mean they perhaps knew who these people were? If that is the case should they not have been arrested before? Are there such people in the UK who the authorities know are terrorists, but haven't yet arrested?

My thoughts exactly. They must have already known who all these people were to swoop so quickly and seize so many weapons.

Who does our government know about who might be hoarding loads of weapons but the police just aren't bothering with them?

Maybe the security services are too busy harvesting the communications data of every single person in the country (99.99999999999999999% to the power 100 of whom are innocent) to actually weed out the real threats.

Halal

Despite recent reports to the contrary, many fast-food and restaurant chains in Britain have been using halal – in Arabic "permissible" or "lawful" – meat for years. Nearly 100 KFC outlets around the country serve halal-approved chicken, as do around 75 – a fifth – of Nando's. The sandwiches served in selected Subway stores have contained halal meat since 2007, while all Pizza Express chicken is halal. Even McDonald's trialled a halal offering, before deciding the changes required to its kitchen procedures would be too great.

Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons, which sell halal ranges at selected stores, and Boots, which sells halal baby food, serve halal meat firstly because people want it: Britain's Muslim population is growing – 3% of the population in the 2001 census, 5% in 2011, and an estimated 8.2%, or around 5.6 million people, by 2030. As KFC puts it: "Feedback from consumers has indicated that there is significant demand for halal food … We've chosen [to serve it] in stores in areas where we expect demand for halal restaurants."

For Pizza Express, as for the major food service companies that supply schools, hospitals and airlines, serving halal chicken across the board simplifies the supply chain and minimises the risk of complaints from customers who may unknowingly eat non-halal meat.

There remains, of course, the risk of complaints from customers who unknowingly eat halal meat – which is why restaurants should make clear, as most do in their windows and on their menus and website, what they are serving. (KFC and Nando's both also say they ensure, when opening a new halal restaurant, that there is a non-halal one nearby.)

There is considerable confusion, however, about exactly what halal meat is. Islamic rules require the animal to be slaughtered while alive and healthy, that the appropriate Islamic blessing be recited, and, crucially, that it be killed by a single, quick cut to the throat and its blood allowed to drain out fully.

That sounds bad. But banner headlines about "ritually slaughtered meat" conceal the fact that, according to a 2012 Food Standards Agency report cited by the RSPCA, 97% of cattle, 96% of poultry and 90% of sheep slaughtered using the halal method in UK abattoirs are stunned before being killed – a procedure that makes them insensible to pain and distress.

That, of course, means that up to 10% of British halal meat may come from animals that have not been slaughtered in a way animal welfare experts consider humane: some stricter Muslims insist stunning is not halal, and some halal authentication bodies – of which there are five in the UK alone – deem it an offence against Qur'anic law and tradition. But the halal meat served by KFC, Nando's, Pizza Express and Subway is certified by bodies that do permit pre-stunning. These chains stress that their suppliers are "contractually obliged" to provide only pre-stunned meat, that all EU and UK legislation has been met, and, in the words of KFC, that "none of our welfare standards have been compromised".

People should, of course, know exactly what they are eating. But they should also know that, in terms of animal welfare, the RSPCA makes no distinction between pre-stunned halal meat and conventionally slaughtered meat. It argues only that consumers should have "the right to choose whether or not they wish to buy meat from animals slaughtered without pre-stunning". The headlines do not always make that clear.

I'm confused as to what point your trying to make with those articles because they all go against your original gripes.

Don't waste your time reading the articles that he posts. He gets himself in a rage and doesn't make any sense. He went off on a rant about how food banks aren't needed. Then just started to decry them in general, then he posted an article about how some food banks appear to be run by profit-making companies masquerading as charities. The article however did make it abundantly clear that food banks are needed. So he basically whipped himself into such a frenzy that he posted an article that disproved his original point.

Thanks for clarifying. My favourite ideas so far are:

2) Smear all bullets manufactured with pork fat.

One thing that I always wonder is if say we have to take in thirty thousand refugees, do they vet their religion?

I mean this in a way of are all Libyans who want to come here the faith of Islam or are there Christians/Catholics etc who are desperate to get here who's fear of persecution is far greater than that of any Islamic person.

A percentage split would be the wisest option but I bet they don't even look at this.

The press or television never cover this question.

At the same time I imagine that Derrick Bird wasn't a Muslim - mad world we live in.

If you believe that Sharia Law in the UK is only acting within the UK system, again your choice.............

Couldn't give a toss how animals are killed for me to ingest them. You wouldn't give a toss if halal was done by white Christians so stop pretending to give a toss just because it's done by Muslims.

Trojan Horse? You reckon a lie about the Lord's prayer means we have a load of Muslims waiting to take over the country (Muslims are 4.4% of the UK population).

I imagine there may be certain decisions taken under Sharia law that some of us might disagree with, but the UK law comes first as I've explained. It really isn't as if (as the Mail would want you to think) there are Sharia police wandering round beheading people, or chopping the hands off thieves.

I have no objections to Halal slaughter, nor do I think many people have to be honest, it is just something put out by the right wing press to enrage people like you, after all a bigot like you won't want to eat Muslim meat.

The religious symbols crap you keep banging on about is utter rubbish, it was British Airways, I checked. I was right it went to the European Court and the court ruled in favour of people wearing discreet religious symbols, so again you're wrong.

If the winner of the Nobel Peace prize can be a President with troops on active duty in 75 countries we all have a chance.
And there was no international Muslim terrorism from Genghis Khan until the Americans decided to arm the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan at the very end of the 70s

So what your saying is, if I was black then i'd have a chance?

I meant terrorism has been going on for centuries and religious based terrorism probably just as long. Granted, the current flavour of Islamic terrorism has it's roots in the Mujahadeen but there's plenty of nutters to go around.

Well apart from your un needed sarcasm you have profered an opinion on how this problem should or could be addressed. I'm well aware it's just a message board but there are plenty on here who believe they know better than everyone else and as has been shown often enough, they know nowt.

Right back to your opinion as to what should or could be done. I would be inclined to agree to a certain extent but here's where I differ. A big reason we're in the shite we're in viz a viz terrorists, we've interfered over in the middle east too much. These are tribal people who's lifestyle, culture and values are very different to our own. Is it upto us in the west to address their inequalities, poor education and lack of prospects when their own governments won't?

Sorting out Israel would go a fair way to adressing some underlying issues, but that will never happen as long as the Jewish lobby control the White House and it's purse strings.

Everywhere we have gone we have messed it up, intervened and then just left it with a vacuum that causes long term problems for generation to come.

128 raids and 23 arrests in Paris today
Presumably linked to people on their radar already?

I'd like to see a bit more of this here ; this will, without doubt happen in London within the next year. It would be good to see a bit of pre-emptive planning and stopping this at source, BEFORE rather than after it happens.

Oh sorry, not clear enough .The issue to which i refer is the issue of Butchery on the streets of a major european capital, massacres in turkey, russian aeroplanes getting blown up, etc, etc. Any suggestions as to how we counter the invisible threat?

Honestly, this problem has existed for decades and probably centuries and the worlds super powers have been the biggest casualties in this. Do you honestly think they turned around and said "nah, can't be arsed to sort this one"?

But a serious answer has to be addressing the inequalities - if you live in a shit tip, run the risk of being murdered in some middle-eastern conflict that you have nothing to do with, have no education and less prospects then is it surprising that the offer of 70 virgins in paradise is not appealing?

Blair allowed himself to be bullied by the Yanks basically.

Start bombing countries and trying to change their values to your own and you are asking for trouble.

Yes there was sarcasm but I was trying to use it to point out that there's a lot more intelligent people than me who have been trying for a lot longer than me to sort this out. I'm not sure it can be fixed (at least not for a few generations). I'm sorry if it didn't come across like that.

Even if it was us (the West) who have been involved in empire building in the middle east? We've brought governments to power, sustained them and created countries with arbitrary lines (literally) in the sand.
