It does annoy me that I have now to pay 14 percent more for my holiday to Greece in 3 weeks, that's over £300 ,It does annoy me that I will shortly have to pay around £50 a ,a month more for my petrol and it does frustrate me that I cannot see any real benefit long or short term.
But 14% higher than what ?
At its peak it was said to be 10% up on its real value in expectation of a REMAIN vote. So if thats the figure youve used its really only 4% down
But that sounds like one hell of a holiday you have booked there
As for the petrol price rise it was already on an upward spiral so it may be difficult to work how much is down to that and how much is down to the dollar exchange rate.

Are we suddenly going to stop people going abroad? Actually yes when we Leave EU and UK citizens lose Free Movement - All those people that go to Australia really struggle.
Are we suddenly going to stop people coming in? Er yes. Where have you been! - We won't get a deal without compromise...50% of migration to the UK is outside the EU
Is the Union going to break up? Er very good chance. If it does we will be in a better position being out before it does
Also we are getting almost certainly the most right wing government post WW2 with no opposition. The joy is now we can directly vote on who is in charge, which we weren't able to do in the EU.

Two weeks ago the exchange rate I could have got was 1.31 Euros to the Pound it's now 1.15 that's 160 euro less per £1000.

Unless you have criminal convictions no British subject ever has problems getting into Australia. Perhaps your getting confused between getting in and getting a work. permit.
Likewise we wont be stopping anybody coming in so long as theyre conviction free and they have no intention of working all we.ll be doing is treating the rest of the EU as we currently treat the rest of the world.
Yes the EU is going to break up the sooner the better
But on your last point you could be correct about a right wing government but i think you.ll find the opposition will come from the streets as the smaller parties mobilise their supporters where it counts.
And dont forget if its May shes committed to not going to the country till 2020 and obviously thinks the majority will be adequate well i have news for her it wont so if she sticks to that plan the government will have plenty of time to sort out a nice right wing immigration policy as we leave the EU as they wont be passing much other legislation.

What is a right wing immigration policy? What would that look like? Is introducing a point system where you allow in those that have the required skills the country is short of, and deny those that are not filling a skill gap, right wing?

I know its a football forum and i said to myself i would only reply to football topics after yesterday .But god it makes me fume how selfish people are if all they are bothered about is how many euros they get for there holidays. There are many people who cant afford to go on holiday for various reasons as i have said before it will take time and aint a quick fix so lets all get on sorting it out instead of bickering like children. On a positive note i am starting to notice various money men on tv ie bloomberg saying leaving the European UNION will be good for Britain a change from the rubbish thats been spouted around .

A right wing immigration policy is one that will most likley be a lot harsher and more strictly enforced than one perceived to be left wing where we let as many East European scroungers and criminals in as want to come and Syrian refugees in their thousands are just waved thru as advocated by Angela Jeremy and his deceased colleague.

Just watched Andrea Leadsom making a speech live on TV this morning. She was cringeworthy to say the least. If this woman is elected as PM it says a lot about the Conservatives. They are and always have been rotten to the core and it is a crying shame that there is no creditable opposition.

Because,in my experience, the use of the word Brit is not normally ised by British people themselves.
Also, have you now declared that you have two log ins?

Don't have an issue with anyone having an opinion deeksme/spanblue whichever login you want to use. I do have a problem with the one eyed scare tactics that the remainders still want to hold on to and pass them off as facts though.
Repeating the same lies over and over again without substance gets a bit boring after a while.
It's quite telling that the majority of the rational and factual posts on the thread have been posted by the pro leave brigade (with the obvious exception of Barry the Racist) and the pro remain keep churning out the same rhetoric that lost them the vote in the first place.

The biggest lie of the campaign was that we would all be 4,300 quid per year worse off if we leave the EU.... even the treasury said it was BS and shouldn't be used in the campaign.... but the remainers still used it repeatedly. There was lying on both sides... the remainers have just conveniently forgotten about the ones on their side. I got a leaflet put through my door with 10 facts about leaving the EU.... not a single fact on it... and the remain campaign used public money to produce it, which is an absolute disgrace in what is supposed to be a fair referendum. In my view both sides were equally appalling... but you can't keep trying to score points with the bus fiasco and forget all the claims on the remain side.

Personally I'm waiting for WW3 to start, I've been down the shops for blankets and water, pesky governments eh?
But if you want to get in to a tit for tat who told the biggest whopper debate then I reckon this will be a record thread. As has been discussed on here numerous times since the referendum, only a fool would disagree with the fact that both sides have told numerous lies.
Perhaps if the Remain campaign had decided to deal it facts and the truth, then maybe the vote would have been swayed in their favour, just a thought.
You carry on bleating mate, its akin to being beaten by an offfside goal in the last minute of a football match, it aint gonna change the result.

The biggest lie of the campaign was that anything would change at all. Banging on about immigration, trade deals, cheaper houses. So where is the plan? What are they actually going to do? Papers hardly even mention Brexit now, just which harridan will screw the population over next. You are arguing about things you think they ought to do, not what they are actually doing because they are not actually doing anything. Boris has gone, Farage has gone, whole thing was a Tory con trick. Only thing it has definitely done is divide the nation by duping 51% of the people

I like this post a lot. "We've had the vote, now stop talking about it, and having opinions!"
Maybe it's moose that would like life in Pyongyang?
Don't have an issue with anyone having an opinion deeksme/spanblue whichever login you want to use. I do have a problem with the one eyed scare tactics that the remainders still want to hold on to and pass them off as facts though.
Repeating the same lies over and over again without substance gets a bit boring after a while.
It's quite telling that the majority of the rational and factual posts on the thread have been posted by the pro leave brigade (with the obvious exception of Barry the Racist) and the pro remain keep churning out the same rhetoric that lost them the vote in the first place.
I've said I'm not span, dunno why you're lying and saying I am, weird chap.
The bus with 350million quid on it....the biggest lie of the campaign, from who again?
"Time to stop bleating"? Nope. Free country, you have to put up with it. Unlucky
What has been most disappointing is the way anyone who dare vote leave, was branded as bigotted, racist and thick. These are pretty cheap and easy shots that many find very insulting, I certainly do. My reasons for voting leave had little or nothing to do with immigration whatsoever. I think what we can all take from this debacle, and the one enveloping the two main political parties, is that many politicians really are just egotistical, lying [censored]. The lefties on here come bleating about how we'll be saddled with a tory govt for years yet it's their previous failures and their own current in figthing and internal duplicity that is making this a certainty. I don't agree with much of what corbyn says but I admire his courage in sticking to his principles, he's more of a socialist than the majoruty of his own party. The soldiers who lost their lives in needless wars arent the only ones to have been done over by Blair and his "new labour", the main opposition party is screwed too.

You're just jealous Marko that it is going to be a Tory 'harridan' as prime minister rather than one of your left wing harpies like the wee Scots lassie or Harriet the Horrible. Whatever happened to Harriet Harman? She seems to have faded into well-deserved obscurity.
To be fair to the Leave campaign they were not a government in waiting so you cannot expect there to be a plan all set up and ready to go. However there are clear ideas and the direction of travel is fairly obvious. Devaluation of sterling perhaps fortuitously is helping to re-balance the UK economy away from London and at the same time helping Krankieland avoid financial ruin. Scots whisky producers and engineering companies must be cock-a hoop with the boost to their profits from their export sales. More tax revenues for Holyrood to fritter away on welfare projects.

Nicola Sturgeon will be the Prime Minster of Scotland. I don't vote Labour so I have no knowledge of what they will do. There seem to be as many of them as the Tories who consider spending money on mindless wars is a better use of our taxes than investing in hospitals.
Its things like this that piss me off CW. The Tories are sending another 1000 troops to eastern Europe to help guard Poland against the evil Russians . The Telegraph trumpeted this as another blow for freedom against dictator Putin. Somehow they managed to gloss over the fact that this is part of a commitment to Poland. When the Americans wanted sanctions against Russia several EU countries were against. The night before the vote the British diplomatic team sat in all night meetings persuading the Governments of Finland, Latvia, the Netherlands and Poland that they should vote for sanctions. In return Britain has to provide financial and military support. The fixture list is just out. How many home games should we pencil in as being in Lancashire? Why do 15000 people in Carlisle have to live in fear of flooding when Riga has new flood barriers paid for and installed by us in return for sanctions against Russia? My mum went to Tesco one day and there was a cow in there, It was local farmers protesting that cheap milk from Poland and Latvia is destroying their businesses- but Cameron agreed to take the dairy products that previously went to Russia in return for sanctions.
Britain is being sold down the river. At least Sturgeon is trying, £1500 for every Scottish family hit by flooding
Give us our independence and your women can do what they like

Ah, Nicola Sturgeon, the loyal British Patriot............
Or, the rat who was on the first plane to Brussels, when we voted Brexit, with a "please don't count the Scottish brexit voters, they were only joking".
Nicola Sturgeon, you would really like her in your corner/team when things get tough..................(she would be begging the opposition to take her in if you were losing)
Nicola Sturgeon, who has no plan, no brains and not a loyal ounce of blood in her veins.............

How many times does this no plan thing have to be covered before people understand? The leave campaign was headed up by a campaign group from multiple parties, they have no power beyond the referendum campaign.... how the hell people expect them to have a plan is beyond me! The plan for both eventualities is absolutely the remit of the National government... the conservative government should have had a contingency plan in place for brexit... if they didn't then that is criminally negligent of Cameron and Osborne, who coincidentally were both remain supporters. How on earth is it a Tory con trick? The most senior Tories involved wanted to remain... how can brexit be part of their plan... your argument makes zero sense.

As for Scottish independance, the question that I would pose is, why did the population of Scotland vote to remain in the UK? Did they feel there was more stability within the uk? or that Alex Salmond didn't have a convincing enough plan/argument for independance? Whichever it was, assumming it was one of these reasons, even after Brexit, what will have changed enough to make the Scots vote to leave? And there's always the fact that the UK government has to grant them another referendum! No guarantees there I don't think despite wee Jimmy Krankie's protestations and whining. I remember watching her on the telly when she was meeting Juncker, she looked like she was shitting herself and rightly so, the EU won't want Scotland and won't make it easy. The EU already has too many recipients and with one less contributor when we leave, they're not bringing enoughto the table. (mind you, this hasn't stopped the EU bringing in some lame duck countries) I think she thought they would just let the Scots stay in! How very, I would have said arrogant but it is more politically naive.

Then there is the fact that Spain would almost certainly veto any Scottish attempt to become a member of the EU... there is no way they want the Basque country kicking up a similar fuss on the back of Scottish independence.

So, hypothetically, what would happen if, the UK granted the Scots another referendum and they vote for independance based on Nicola saying they could join the EU. The EU then say you'll have to apply just like anyone else and you'd have to take the Euro. How long would it take for them to achieve membership if the EU were in agreement they could join? Could they survive financialy during the interim period, bearing in mind how long it would take them to leave the UK? How long would that divorce take? A lot of questions that I suspect Nicola would be unwilling to answer or perhaps, dare I say, unable to answer honestly. How would it be if they were in the doldrums for 8 to 10 years? What if , in the meantime, the EU lost more members or even collapsed? An independant Scotland without an EU to prop it up? What would the Scots think of Mrs Sturgeon then?

But you were prepared to accept Dave and Gideons threats of war and punishment budgets? As has been said, there were supporters of brexit on both sides of the political fence, The result is, the government of the day has to get on with carrying out the wishes of the majority, like it or lump it! If they fook up, we have an opportunity to vote them out in, at worst, a couple of years or so. We may have an election well before then where the parties will have to put forward their proposals for how we leave the EU and how we move forward. At this point, we the electorate have the opportunity to vote for the proposals we see as best for the UK.
That's democracy for ya!!

I completely understand that position CVB. It is still a disgrace on behalf of Cameron/Osborne if they didn't have a contingency plan... as PM and Chancellor of the National government it was their job to have a plan in place... there was a massive conflict of interest by those two and they should never have been heading up the remain campaign. They should also never have used public funds to try to force victory for remain.

All the page long posts about new trade deals, if Boris could not negotiate them then who? Feck it lets just wing it and see what happens, with the lives of 60m people at stake? Jesus Christ man, really?
Who has Russia invaded? South Ossetia, Syria and Novorossiya, they were invited into all of them by the local parliaments. Poland, the Baltics during the last war, invited into all of them. Afghanistan ok, but there are British troops there and they were never invited either. Britain also has Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sierra Leone and Mali, all active duty and all invasion forces. Britain is currently much more aggressive than Russia. And where does destroying the Cumbrian dairy industry help to protect my poor old mum from the evil bolshies? So you think it is more important to build flood defences in Latvia than in Carlisle. Maybe want to reflect on that during the 400m round trip drive to a hime game from Northumberland. Especially the fact that one mortar and the things are rendered useless

You must have done. Novorossiya, a small Russian speaking enclave in the far east of the country, held a referendum and declared independence from Ukraine. This was done after they appealed to the international community for help because they were forbidden from using Russian language the only language most of them speak, they are the richest province in Ukraine because of natural resources but all the taxes paid were not returned etc ,. The Ukrainians refused and began shelling Novorossiya. The Novorossian Parliament requested help from Russia and Putin refused originally but he changed his mind when Russian TV began showing pictures of injured and dead ethnic Russians.
Following on Crimea held a referendum and requested to cede from Ukraine and rejoin Russia, Russia then went to their aid
The principle of entering a foreign country to assist civilians who are victims of government aggression was set by the US and the UK when they invaded Serbia and carved out Kosovo. Kosovo is actually more contentious than Novorossiya and Crimea because in both of the Russian allied territories there were elections, referendums and votes in Parliament. In Kosovo there was no election, the US and UK simply went in uninvited.

No, as someone with a young family where 90% of the household income come through Higher Education I looked at what was best for me, my wife and son, and what I felt was the most secure way forward for us. If Russia was so keen to help and come to people's aid, why did it send in unmarked vehicles and all of its ammunition and tanks in without insignias?
They then transport ammunition under the guise of "humanitarian aid convoys" and tried to intimidate and silence the human rights workers who were reporting Russian deaths in the conflict.
The majority of members of the international community and organizations such as Amnesty International also condemned Russia for its actions in post-revolutionary Ukraine, accusing it of breaking international law and violating Ukrainian sovereignty.
Nice guy that Putin.

It was a game of politics. The US deliberately set out to undermine Russia in its own backyard. Victoria Nuland admitted that the US has spent $5bn to start the revolution.
I doubt Amnesty International criticised Russia for breaches of international law, they are not lawyers. They criticised the Donbass Army, and the Ukrainian Army for brutality. They also criticised the Russians, Brits, US and Canada for supplying weapons so you are correct but it apples to everyone.
If Human Rights workers were abused I never saw it and I was there. Both sides were very cautious about what the OCSE was allowed to see.
The Russians certainly were supplying weapons. At one point the Donbass Army had half as many tanks as Britain, not bad for 3m people.
If the Russians used humanitarian aid convoys to ship weapons I heard about that, it doesn't make sense, why bother? They have unpatrolled borders. What I do know is that they were shipping stuff out. Entire factories were dismantled and shipped to Rostov and rebuilt.
Ultimately
1) If Russia and Ukraine want to scrap, why do we care? Instead of giving hundreds of millions in aid to one of the most corrupt countries in the world why not build hospitals in the UK?
2) Britain is fighting in Syrian, £500m spent to date. We were never asked there, Assad had a 63% approval rating before the war. Why are we there?
3) Can't we just spend some money on us, please just let us have a pint in the Magpie, watch Carlisle play then drive home on a decent road. Why is there no money for flood defences, road building, hospitals, schools or anything because we are killing foreigners or getting involved in wars that just have nothing to do with us

We're all going to have to like it, or lump it. It isn't the fault of the people that voted leave either.
I do agree with a post made earlier which said it wasn't in the leave campaigners' remit to have a plan for the logistics of getting out, their plan was just to win over 50% + 1 of the population, and whatever anybody says about their campaign, it worked. Shite was slung by both sides, a lot of it pathetic and ridiculous. Surely though, it was incumbent on the government of the day to plan for either eventuality. It seems fairly obvious to me that Cameron always thought he was going to win, so had no plan for losing. Johnson didn't expect to win, so his arse fell out when he did. The Labour party are all headless chickens more concerned with hacking each other to pieces than with what is best for the country, and the rest of the tories are locked in a stupid power play.
I hope nobody actually thinks any of our politicians have the best interests of the United Kingdom, or of Europe at heart, they are self serving wankers, the lot of them, and they're only out to gain an advantage for themselves personally.
We're in a mess, not necessarily because of the vote to leave, part of it is the lack of leadership, and the lack of direction and the fact that the city is uncertain. Strong and decisive leadership actually could have made the past couple of weeks a bit smoother, but they've all been too busy sticking knives in each others backs. Cameron is a complete lame duck until early September, Corbyn is just a complete lame duck, Sturgeon is a smug, self serving witch, and there is no other leader out there. Things could slide even further unless Cameron starts to at least attempt to get some control on thing, and start to come up with a strategy for leaving, and get it implemented quickly. If that were to happen, I reckon we'd see markets improve.

On number one, I ain't too fussed either way but Putin is without doubt a fookin loon! I can understand what you are saying on number two, more money down the shitter probably at the behest of the yanks. On number three, I wholeheartedly agree. Now we can forget our european partners and the EU money pit. Lets be a bit more choosy where we send foreign aid (Indian space programmes aren't a necessity, they could spend that money on their own people living in poverty) And lets start telling the yanks to fook off when they decide to start a fight with someone they don't like.
p.s. Blair and bush jr deserve to stand trial for their warmongering activities. Bush is just a mental cowboy and an utter cretin and I 've always hated Blair, an utter [censored], nothing more nothing less. The guy who said he was acting when he made his mealy mouthed comments after the chilcott report was published was spot on. ALL an act!

Markovich, have you ever thought that Russia might be a threat to us or our long standing allies, like Poland? It's not like they haven't got form for invading nearby countries is it?
So you voted leave knowing they could not deliver their promises or even do anything? Just out of mild interest, what did you expect to happen then?
Especially the fact that one mortar and the things are rendered useless
............and the Crimea, Mmm, let me think which Country was is it in ?? As for destroying the Cumbria Dairy Industry, well there is prime example of inept EU policy. We go fat on the surplus while half the World starve............while the EU protect there trade agreements. bunch of hypocrites !!

Disagree on one. I worked for the Presidential Administration when Yeltsin was President. It was a joke, we didn't do anything. Once Putin came in he changed everything, all the free loading foreigners were booted out. He has restored Russian pride, improved the living standards of normal Russians; there are no international decisions made made now without considering the position of Russia. Wee bit different from Cameron, Obama couldn't even remember his name and he confused Osborne with a soul singer.
As for Bush and Blair totally agree but it will never happen. When we went in to Iraq there were Czechs, Poles, Danes and God knows who else, if B&B; go down then there are tens of others and it won't happen. There is a fear factor as well. Bush was found guilty of being a war criminal in absentia in Malaysia, then 2 of their planes fell out the sky in unexplained circumstances. A rather stark warning to all involved en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuala_Lumpur_War_Crimes_Commission
