FGR have just signed Lee Collins (Centre-Back) from Mansfield which isn't exactly a vote of confidence unless they're planning on taking Ellis too .

Ellis had the last laugh however as he was the only Carlisle United player to win a promotion this season.

Bet that pissed Keith off, or maybe not as Ellis will be easier to move on now having just won something.

Signed Ellis as he had experience of Promotion from this Division. Ditched him when we were up at the top and then we started slipping. Meanwhile Ellis goes on Loan and helps his new side get Promotion. One of the most shocking decisions of Curle's reign IMO...

It's not as if Ellis played a major part in us getting up to the top. He was (rightly) not being picked regularly in our back 4 during the first half of the season. Him going had nothing to do with our slide out of the automatic places just as him being here had nothing to do with us getting into the automatic places in the first place.

We can look at losing Jones, Grainger and Kennedy through injuries as factors in why we dropped from the top. The sale of Wyke as well. All key first team players, way more so than Ellis.

As for experience, that's one thing this squad has in abundance so I doubt losing Ellis would have made much difference in that respect either.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Ellis if you couldn't tell already

Well you can be sure that the money spent on his wage would have represented better value than that paid to any of the non entities we signed since Wyke left

Keith obviously isn't a fan either, cannot see him coming back to be honest but will probably be up there on the amount of clubs who want him over the other players that we make available for transfer.

Then again Keith might be on the naughty step soon so maybe the next manager might fancy him.

The 5 were

Grainger
Gillespie
Ibrehe
Kennedy
Raynes

Contary to popular opinion by the time those contracts were offered Joyce had automatically triggered a 1 yr extension so therefore wasnt one of the five

Well if the 6 were to all re.sign we wouldnt be looking for many new signings as that would give us 18 a new keeper would make that 19 so in that case we,d only be looking at a maximum of 3

Are we still not sure what Liddle's actual position is?

Ellis and Brisley are on the transfer list I thought so a reasonable chance they will be off. That clears off 2 centre backs. Brisley is on a decent wack I would guess, he was offered a deal at Peterborough but chose to come north. Ellis signed a 3 year deal after leaving a club in the division above so I would imagine he is doing ok as well. Just hope we don't have to fund a chunk of their wages to get them to go. If Morecambe are keen that would be an outlet.

Thought as well Raynes was off to Manchester to top off his degree and Kennedy was heading for Kilmarnock? Out of that bunch Kennedy would be the biggest loss if he can stay fit, lets just hope any replacements are better

CARLISLE: Gillespie, Potts, Thirlwell, Livesey, Brough (Black 70), Amoo, Noble (Lynch 60), Berrett, Gillies (Feely 36), Beck, Guy. Subs (not used): Edwards, Symington, Fleming, Salmon.

Not much in it like but you are probably right, Abbott must have been off his tits to think that lot were good enough for League 2 let alone League 1.

As I mentioned in the worst defender thread, that team that Abbott assembled at the start of that season (13/14) is the worst I've seen.

The Bradford game is mentioned above and yeah that could have been 9 or 10 as well, and the Leyton Orient game before that was bad, but the Coventry home game will take some beating. Only a man of the match performance from Gillespie stopped it from being double figures.

Meanwhile, winger Danny Kearns - who has been absent from the club to 'refocus his mind' - was also the subject of some straight talking from Curle.

An embarrassing year we should erase from the history of the club.

I wonder what Gregs budget was that season as that side looks like, even then, a Conference side could afford to cobble together.

Beck and Guy as a two pronged attacking weapon ffs.

Kavanagh takes a lot of the blame for us being so much in debt with the crap that he brought in, just because Jenkins was too tight to get a real manager in he paid the price - I say paid the price but he still holds the debt caused by his own stupidity around the clubs neck.

I reckon that once Greg won The Johnstones Paint Trophy Jenkins thought that he had found the new lower league Fergie and would be here for at least the next ten years, someone he was comfortable dealing with, no hassle - happy days.

Wouldn't mind if Jenkins just took it on the chin and swallowed the debt but the cheeky get wants his Kavanagh mess up cash back.

Ridiculous not to give players a deadline, Are they going to string the club along until the end of the month where they stop getting paid before making a decision.

Neither a good enough for the first 11, I'd just get rid.

Ridiculous not to give players a deadline, Are they going to string the club along until the end of the month where they stop getting paid before making a decision.

I agree if they are not committed enough to sign then I would just get rid especially Bailey... at least Raynes and Jabo moved on and didn't mess about

The club can not a retract a contract within a certain period , if you read the interview on the official page it's tells you that so they still have time to weigh up option before the club can retract them.

Does this mean we are going to play rush goalie/drop back keeper? Or whatever it is called

Yes, but as it says, the first year Pro's haven't been added, and probably unfair to at this stage...

We'd probably improve our defensive record if did so.

We want a squad of 23/24 seemingly. Would assume that includes the 4 young lads?
