Gob smacked or mildly surprised ?

Here is the team that got us to Anfield

01 Gillespie
02 Miller
05 Raynes
44 McQueen
03 Grainger (Archibald-Henville - 55' )
04 Joyce
12 Sweeney Booked
16 Dicker
11 Brough (Ibehre - 84' )
25 Asamoah
19 Balanta (Kennedy - 72' )

See how close it is to that at kick off.

If James Phillips spends the whole evening doing this Liverpool/Anfield arse kissing thing it's going to get right on my bloody nerves.

Passing it around nicely enough at the back, one too many passes a few times but we have rode our luck and we did one quality move up the pitch that could have resulted in something better.

That looked like a pretty soft goal. No pressure on the cross.

It was more the pass to the winger that took 2 players out giving him time to pick Ings out with ease.

You have to look at the players and costs of the two teams, they are nearly averaging out at 20m each in cost, to our tuppence ha'penny team

Strangely the BBC text commentary is slightly ahead of United Player - I saw it flash up that we'd equalise about 20 seconds before it happened on the radio!

Good move but it looked like Assa stumbled into the ball rather than blast it home lol

It's pretty much the only thing of any note he has done all season.... hopefully the penny has dropped that you have to do more than a few fancy flicks. He is capable but needs to create things more often as he has the ability.

Haha Northumbrian. That is exactly what people were saying about Cristiano Ronaldo in his first season at Man U!

Well we would be overjoyed with that point in a league game, tbf to the lads they have passed the ball about really well from the back today.

It would appear they've had 39 attempts so far. We've had 4.

3 terrible pens and as for Hery, 1 step pens are just a no no in big games, how many do you see missed like that

Yep... and it was true at the time... he went on to improve his final product... forget the stupid flicks and became a great player. Let's hope Hery does the same

Massive credit to Curle and the team. Fabulous effort. We looked really organised and restricted Liverpool to speculative long range shooting most of the time. Shame about the pens but the boys did us proud.

Just home 2,17 am and still haven`t wound down , why am on here. It was a great watch tonight even if we looked under the cosh for periods we defended superbly but he`s GOT TO STOP this tippy tappy stuff in our defensive third and in front of our own goal - it`s suicide and punishable by goals against!!!!
The players are taking instructions too literally methinks, playing out from the back surely doesn`t mean umpteen passes and not moving forward THEN giving it away coz they`ve made TOO MANY passes.

That`s my only critism tonight, the boys were superb. Oh and the bloody seats are too small and there is no leg room- our tinpot stadium (sorry beloved Brunton Park) is more comfortable.

Next - hope it`s not a tanking by Newport!!

I like the playing around at the back. Sometimes it's overdone, but I'd much rather watch that than hoofing it up top. That's obviously why he played Asamoah up top against two giants, to make sure the players knew that they couldn't get away with just getting rid.

Sure, we'll make mistakes doing it but if we stick with that philosophy and the players continue to learn how and when to do it, we'll be absolutely fine. We've been watching teams dominate possession against us for years, it's nice to finally start keeping the ball.

Wasn't at the game but watched a live stream and for all Liverpools attempts they never really sliced us open or got around the back to do much damage.
