TOPIC: A brilliant night spoiled by idiots

I was proud to be at Anfield tonight, The vast majority of Carlisle fans were a credit to our club, and the team absolutely did us proud.

This post, written in anger, but none the less genuine is directed at the total idiots who have no business being at Carlisle matches and totally disgust me. I don't know who they are, I really wish I had been in that part of the stand to report them, and only hope some one has.

Some idiots thought it fun to release flares into the crowd, next to my grandsons, one of which has asthma. These same cretins thought it acceptable to call players black B'stards. My youngest grandson was shocked and scared and wanted to go home. He, thankfully, had never heard racism before. I am totally ashamed that he heard it from people pretending to be Carlisle fans, My daughter could do nothing other than get him away from trouble, she had already been hit on the shoulder , thankfully the Liverpool stewards allowed him and some other children down to the front of the stand away from the lowlife. They have been reported I hope they are banned.

Of course yet again WHERE WAS THE FLO, WHY THE HELL WAS HE NOT IN THAT STAND WEARING A JACKET SAYING FLO. TOTALLY DISGUSTING.

I don't know if my grandson will go to another match, I hope he does, he was a keen supporter until tonight.

From the sounds of your post it is the police and not the FLO you needed. I'm not too sure exactly what the FLO would've done really.

What a shame it was spoiled for you and your Grandson, I heard on the radio about the flares.

Being a Carlisle fan it is good to take kids to games as at home there are areas that are sparse in the stands and you can slope off to them with the kids but to be fair a sell out game is a lottery to take kids to, I personally wouldn't do it as the place is more crammed and the atmosphere sometimes can be like chucking out time at the pub, hence the odd idiots spoiling it with comments like that.

The flares bit is probably some young lads having fun, hard one to call.

Ok, no way should your grandkids be subjected to racism, nor any child. But the flare? This was 1 our days to shine. Get a grip Bumble. I'll back u on most of what you post but on this i think your wrong. It is unfortunate that you were in the same block as the flare, but that's how the tickets were issued. We were out in big numbers, bound to be a few clowns enjoying the occasion. I was a fair bit away from said flare, but wish i was closer so i could be part of it. Great day/night out. UTB

I enjoyed a great night tonight. No idiots around me, everyone passionate. I was lucky. As any club, there are a hundred or so knuckle draggers but it is about time folk stood their ground and dealt with them.
Asking stewards won't help. Confront the ignorant gits!

I hate chavs and these wannabe thugs. If they upset my baby daughter I'd go crazy with them. I bet they are the same ignorant scum who turn up at Hartlepool each year. No class. No idea. No future. [censored]

That's the problem though, how can you please in such a crammed area where you were lucky if you got a ticket both the lads p issed up and having a laugh with fireworks and other folk with youngsters, even babies who desire a Crèche like atmosphere?

Sorry Muttley, can't agree re flares. If there was a separate area, where folk could let off flares then fine. But doing it with no thought to people with breathing difficulties or young children isn't on. Maybe you feel that the young and those with illness shouldn't be at the match. I think its just plain decency to think about fellow fans, we wont agree on that

Part of my frustration is that I was working and wasn't with them. it was only when at half time I found out what had gone on. A couple of the children the stewards had allowed down had been badly frightened. For my grandson, it was more that the fun had gone out of being a fan and he wanted to go home. It also meant that daughter and one grandson were down the bottom but because of lack of space down there the rest of the family were up at the top, not the family experience they had wanted or paid for.

But heyho, think the best thing to do is forget it and just remember the great performance, hopefully the family will be back at the next home game.

Always a gamble at big games with children, but you expect safety first and foremost, am afraid the offensive language is par for the course. What worried me was the tightly packed seating and lack of room between the seats - should an emergency have taken place getting out could have been a problem imo............you would have thought Liverpool of all clubs would have thought of that..........but I guess it must be legal to have tiny seats crammed together over a large area/stand

Give it a rest, Bumble. Didn't see any flares, but thought the blue smoke bombs were class! Added to the atmosphere. The kids near us loved them!

Im 42 have asthma and was also right next to a blue smoke bomb. Cant say it bothered me much. getting to bed gone 4 and having to get up to do the school run at 7.30 isnt too clever though. Think ill have to gan back to bed!!!.

You should have got a few photos or videos of the culprits. Not so much bothered about the smoke bombs but name and shame the low life that chanted racist abuse.

He wasnt exactly wrong seeing as A. the player was a negroid and B. illigitimate.

They must have very mixed emotions every time they see Troy, Jabo, Hery, Asamoah, McQueen, Thompson, Balanta, Osei or CMW pull on a Carlisle shirt. Not to mention some of our most treasured former players like Deano, big Stephane, Rod Thomas and Keith Walwyn... I'd like to see them say anything like that within earshot of Troy and Jabo!!

I'm more offended by the dafties at the front that stand and sing 'stand up if you love Carlisle' every 3 or 4 minutes. I'd much rather be standing than sitting, but it's cringe worthy singing that all the time, especially when it never works and people stop bothering to join in.

I was at the right hand side, 17 rows up from the front. No problems our side of the stand, just a good mix of old/young fans enjoying a brilliant, gutsy, learned performance from the Blues. If anything, Jabo came on slightly too early. We didn't create much going forward when he came on, but Del looked fahoooooked.

Shame there are still some who think racism is acceptable, however, personally I do think the blue smoke screens are quite intimidating to the opposition. Understand what Bumble is saying regards asthma etc but you're never going to be in a position where you're safe from causing harm to someone - or pleasing everyone, all the time. For example, should we stop people taking peanuts into the match in case they're near someone with an allergy? Should we create an area completely boxed in with Perspex screen to protect those with allergies to wasp stings? That said, I do agree there should be consideration to fellow supporters. After all, we're all 'one of our own'...

All in all a brilliant night, hopefully through time your grandson will grow to ignore that side of the game and hope he continues his support which grows into a mad obsession with CUFC. Was watching Bumble make her way up from the dugouts to the fans and you could see a big grin from ear to ear - must have been brilliant to look at the sea of travelling fans - I imagine a sense of pride would have came over you, Bumble?

Two women on my row up and down all game going back and forward to get food/drinks and back to their seat bloody annoying. They did it again when the penalties were about to start, I don't apologise in the slightest for my complaints to them.

I'm not a fan of flares/smoke bombs to be honest, i'm a standard jeans type of guy but seriously I don't think they improve atmosphere at all and could cause issue to those with breathing issues. Again though it comes down to those setting them off not knowing the possible consequences.

On a plus side a thanks to our supporters as I take a blind person and people were happy to move out of the way and help which Is always good and the stewards were excellent.

Funny one all these flares etc, if you look at stuff on the continent they are 100 times worse/more visual (depending which side of the net you are on) than that last night - it actually looked a pitiful effort compared to stuff in Rostock and Stuttgart last night. Kids and those it may cause problems to must be present at those places though and some must be affected by it - health and safety is over the top in England but if someone collapsed or had a fit I bet it would be murder getting them help in a situation where nothing can be seen due to the colour of the air etc....

I saw you down at the front. If you felt that strongly about it all, why didn't you come into the stand and confront the guilty parties? I'm sure the steward would have let you in.

I am in no way condoning the racism bit at all.
But the flares?? It was a football match for FFS.

My 10 year old boy and his mate thought the blue smoke was brilliant.
Illegal or not, People bring smoke bombs or flares to matches at all levels throughout the world.
I hated seeing crowd violence at games, but its a football match and sh1t happens from time to time.

God forbid something seriously unruly happens at a game.
That would really give you something to moan about.

Only the Martlews didn't seem to be enjoying it, Mrs Martlew constantly harping on to all to sit down,even when they were possibly the only 2 people in the ground that were still sitting. Funny how they managed to get good seats right behind the goal,as well.

Reading through this I cant get over the contradictory shit being spouted.

Condone the use of flares - great its an opinion

Complain about access/egress in the case of an emergency - great its a valid point

I would have thought last night was an opportunity to showcase the club. The crowd would be in no way a representation of the normal mix where people tend to automatically segregate themselves. In other threads people have been complimenting family areas etc, this was never gonna happen last night and everyone would be mixed up. Seems to me there are a bunch of Lemmings who say that's what what we want to do, that's what we will do and continue to do, [censored] the rest.

By the way how many who support the use of smoke bombs/flares have kids and would still condone them being set off under their noses?

I am no lemming.I'm a 43 year old who knows right from wrong, and I was at the game with my 10 year old son and his mate.
Not once did I fear for their safety or welfare whilst in the ground.
As I said earlier, its a football match and sometimes sh1t happens.
If these sort of things at games offend you, maybe you should start going to watch snooker or golf.

More chance of violence and rowdiness at the Masters Snooker to be fair when Ronnie is on at times than many football grounds now. Ironic it was the final v Ding at Wembley Arena where racism did occur from the crowd and he wasn't far off walking out when 7 1 down or so if I remember correctly.

I dint see the smoke bomb just the smoke, at that time it wasn't being held above someones head. It didn't bother me or my daughter who has asthma, but I don't just think about myself and can appreciate other peoples views and concerns.

Yes shit happens, its called life. It didn't happen to me last night, I had a good night - but shit happened to someone else and was avoidable.

Honestly, i was about 2 yards from the smoke bomb or whatever it was and didnt have a problem with it at all. It certainly didnt have me reaching for my inhaler. Just smelled a bit like bonfire night.

Can I just say that the Liverpool stewards last night I thought were superb. I'm always in a group that has a lad with severe anxiety problems as part of his disability, and when he's anxious he can't walk. We arrived at Anfield last night late due to traffic (5 min after kick off) and the lad I was with made a mistake with his ticket at the turnstile (opened the turnstile and shut it without walking through)
There was still a large crowd trying to get through, but the steward calmed him down as best as he could and walked with us exactly to his seat, after telling security the problem. Absolutely fantastic

Bumble sum's up to me why football and women don't mix, football was a way of getting away from wineing bewers, get some aggression out, few pints with the lads ect, it will be like going to the movies soon if bumble gets her way, sad really.

I did hear some idiot call a steward a "stupid pakkie" last night in our section coz he couldnt find his seat ffs...no place at all for it. I shook my head in disgust.

Seriously though that was fantastic last night, Liverpool and Hartlepool this season have been the best away games for a couple of year imo.

Some of the stuff that's been said on here from the OP and others is one of the big reasons why the atmosphere at BP is totally shlte.
No one can fart without some do gooding namby pamby moaning git sticking their oar in. Can't stand, can't swear, can't sit next to the away fans, can't create any atmosphere with devices which are used at most of the top clubs for atmosphere in Europe.

Fair enough racism had to go along with plsslng in people's pockets on the terrace both unacceptable but I must admit I have said the bl@ck ******* words before but aimed at the ref which was the usual crack never aimed at players.
