Surely Dicker should be getting 11.

If Dicker gets 11, Raynes should get a 12 and Gillespie a 15!

Can we give Curle a 25 for allegedly shouting that the Liverpool players were sh*te?!

Raynes has been a far better player than I expected. The amount of blocks and tackles he gets in a game are unbelievable.

Tonight was the Michael Raynes i thought we signed, big, bullying, tackles, headers, blocks. Outstanding performance.

Cant say a bad word about any of them, special mentions to Joyce and Dicker though, excellent in midfield and Hery was our bright spark.

As good as Gillespie was, and he was excellent, i think it sums Liverpool up that i have seen him play better/make a number of better saves (Burton being an obvious example). Stats can lie and for me they dont show how comfortable i felt we were with them for most of the night. Kept our shape well and forced them into long rangers.

Finally, we stick our principles dont we? Lost the ball a number of times but we didnt just hoof it, kept playing it around and out of defence and it is really impressive how far we have come, some lovely passing moves which would have impressed most there last night!

Fantastic night, atmosphere and game, hard to argue with the result on the lottery of pens but Keith, the players and the fans should be incredibly proud of themselves and each other

Roll on Saturday!!

Gillespie 10 simply brilliant
Miller 8 continues to grow in confidence and reads the game well
Raynes 9 his performance reminded me of past performances by Deano and Danny L - blocks ,tackles etc
Grainger 8 the last couple of games have shown much improved performances
McQueen 8 struggled at times defensively but did well going forward. Completely knackered by the end
Joyce 9 all over the pitch, one outstanding tackle among many he put in and always an outlet to support others
Dicker 7 neat play at times but gave the ball away too often
Sweeney 7 playing out of position and never really got into it but gave 100%
Kennedy 7 similar performance to Sweeney
Hery 8 our most creative player and set up our goal well
Asamoah 8 little change on his own up front but took his goal well

Gilliead 8 a very assured performance
Ibehre 8 made a difference up front by winning and holding up the ball
Gillesphey 7 a fine debut

Curle 9 Only criticism is that perhaps we should have started with Jabo?

Was great to see us stick to our guns and keep passing it - have had a few lads at work message me saying they couldn't believe that we kept taking short goal kicks. Really impressed with us... the less said about their efforts the better!

Jabo made a difference as it was a complete different form of attack. That said, I personally thought it killed us going forward not having Asamoah's pace. I'm not too sure if it was a positive change in style of play. That said, does it matter? We had a brilliant night, everyone played terrific. I was very impressed with Gillead, Hery and Raynes. Obviously Gillespie, also.

Raynes wasn't half winding the L'pool players up some...

Everyone gets high marks for last night. Stand out players for me were Raynes, Grainger and Joyce - all players that have had a bit of stick this year but their efforts in blocking and stopping were what made Liverpool resort to so many long rang efforts.

Was great to see them try to knock the ball around at times, some of the interplay between the players where they pass and move in to space is great to watch.

They might have had 47 shots which looks like we were hanging on for our lives, but apart from the first 10 minutes of both halves of normal time, it didn't feel like that at all. The only time they looked like they were getting past us was when they went down the wings and had an overlap, but the defending meant that out of those shots, there really were very few chances.

Asamoah was too isolated but if we'd played Jabo from the start he'd still have been playing against 2 giants and he'll have got very little from them either.

Good to see Hery getting the ball, turning and having a go at them from time to time, that's the Hery we expected to see from pre-season.

McQueen looked absolutely spent after about 70 minutes. How he continued on for the next 50 minutes is very impressive. Wonderful penalty, too.
Arise, Sir Jimmy

Have got to say this is a big change from my normal useless ramblings about info from my reliable sources regarding transfers. However I have to make comment on that performance last night simply sensational and how proud I am to be a Carlisle fan. Regardless of how many chances Liverpool had they could only put 1 passed us in open play. It is defiantly one of the best games I have been to as a Carlisle fan and I thought every player to a man played there part and were terrific. I just hope we can take this sort of performance into the league now and push on. UTB'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In fairness, if that game is replayed on the Brunton Park turf on Saturday people will be up in arms. Great backs to the wall performance showing determination and resilience, fulfilling our role as underdogs perfectly. Let's not kid ourselves though if we're to push on this season we'll have to play on the front foot a lot more.

Re. The game and players performance, I thought Hery was our best player on the night. Kept looking to get on the ball in dangerous positions and caused some problems for Liverpool. He was able to provide some relief for the defence.

Gillead and gillesphey were also superb

Troy got 10.000001 even though he didnt come on. I thought everyone knew he has to be rated higher than Grainger regardless?.
