TOPIC: OT - Android TV Boxes

Looking for a bit of advice in these as I know very little around this subject.

We are looking at getting one, as the reading I've done around them and the reviews I've had from mates that have them, they sound pretty decent, what with free TV, sports, movies etc.

We were looking at getting one of these www.retailgadgets.co.uk/Minix-Neo-X8-H-A...RAM-SKU18540711.html and would probably get it "fully loaded".

Does anyone have any knowledge on these that can advise me if this is any good ? Or if there's better out there ?

i know a couple of people that have them and they are pretty awful!!
They advertise you can get everything but in reality it's really slow with anything, that's if they work, it basically connects to the Internet to the dodgy stream sites you can get on your pc. Half the time it freezes and crashes so you spend half an hour trying to get a stream to work.
You would be better just getting a HDMI cable and connecting to your tv and using your laptop.

I've got an M8. Was bought for me by a family member.

Good for movies- 3D/ease of use/portability/one cost (the device).
- TV shows/box sets and what not for the same reason.

- A bit of filth if that floats your boat.


Bad for- SPORT, on the whole it's [censored] shit.To find a stream anywhere near TV quality is nigh on impossible. If you do, chances are it will pause/drop out and as alot of them don't start till near enough kick off, I have spend the first half or more searching through the endless tripe finding one watchable.

As the fella said above aswell, the software that puts everything in one place and gets rid of all ads/pop ups they use is called XBMC/kodi this can be installed on anything like laptops/pcs/phones/tablets etc. There are YouTube guides. If any of these enable a HDMI connection they will do exactly the same thing just need a mini wireless keyboard if you can't be arsed getting up to change stuff.

my neighbour's got one of those kodi box things and to be honest, he only paid £50 odd quid for it with a keyboard, i don't think it's worth the money. like mentioned above, the sports available are terrible. you need to spend a lot of time on them to get used to how they work and how to find channels etc.
on the other hand there's a few on fb selling 'fully loaded' flashed boxes which seem to be pretty good. a mate has one and seems good. the better one has twin tuner so you can record 2 channels while you watch a third. but these need an annual subscription of £50

I use kodi on my PC and also on a Amazon Fire TV Stick which was £30.

I have no problem getting live sports.
3pm kick offs in full Hd on addons you download, both Phoenix and Vdubt25 stream every footy game, most are aired via NBC in the USA.

I also use Genesis which streams every TV show you can imagine.

Instead of paying for a device fully loaded . Get a one yourself and download the addons that you need.
