TOPIC: Derek Asamoah

Very underrated player for us I reckon, the goal against Liverpool will be forever remembered by Carlisle United fans and his goals last season were vital in keeping us up.

Never seems to be anyones favourite player but Keith Curle obviously loves him and you can see why, he gives nothing short of a hundred per cent every game and comes across as the model pro.

Can get himself into great positions and then fall over at times which can be frustrating but I imagine that is one of the reasons that he isn't playing in The Championship.

He only has a few months left on his contract, seems happy like Curle to work on month to month or short contracts as I suspect if Curle walks he would probably follow - how long would you give him, end of the season or eighteen months?

Not forgetting he will be 35 by the end of the season, although he seems in great shape injuries might niggle him at this age.

KC has thought short term contracts make DA more hungry. This is good but at the same time there is a limit and out of respect I think he should have a contract until end season.

If you knew how much a goal he was on you would understand why he shoots at every opportunity!

Always liked him but my favourite performance from him for us has to be Burton away last season - the shift he put in that night was incredible, working his arse off upfront but also covering defensively, pretty much played the last 20 minutes as a second right-back.

For a 34-year-old, his pace is ridiculous. Definitely a good option to have in the squad.

I don't think i have ever seen any player put a shift in like he did that night, i remember he went flying off the pitch by the dugouts and KC grabbed him by his shorts and fired him back on.

The thing is, no matter who we are playing away from home, if it's 0.0 and Asamoah is playing we always stand a chance. He chases EVERYTHING and catches so many defenders off guard. The energy for a guy approaching 35 is phenomenal

He is a hell of a player for us. Also, for a little man, can hold the ball up well too

He has proved to be an excellent signing for us. Great pace for a lad his age. When asked whether he was worried about his contract situation he just said no, if Carlisle don't offer him something then somebody else will. And he is 100% correct.

My favourite player at the moment, he has the ability to create something special, he reads the game very well and very early so ends up in the right place at the right time. I think the younger players could learn a great deal from his energy management throughout a game.

Did wonder if he was applying to join the Assassin's Guild with his goal celebrations at Liverpool and Orient. Definitely worthy of a flag.
