Last time they said big transfer news was on the way it turned out to be a sheff wed youth left back in on loan last January. Not expecting another Michael Bridges. Happy to be wrong and get Messi in on loan like.

Wigan, Just back from injury, played a couple 90 mins reserves, would make sense for them to loan him out to get fit or loan him out because he was out of favour before his injury.

Unfortunately Messi is out for about 2 months with a knee injury. By that time Jabo will be back so Messi wouldn't get a look in.

I like Grant Holt, smashing local bloke and all that but I wonder about his fitness, could be great to bring on late in games.

Carlisle fan through and through but then again so is Danny Grainger and he is probably the most hated Carlisle player so Holt will have to be pretty good to cut the mustard....

I don't think Grainger is hated. He gets his fair share of stick, some fair some mind made up he'll be the scapegoat type.
I think to be hated you'd have to be consistently poor, not put the effort in or both and he has good games/moments and certainly puts the effort in.
Holt on loan would give the place a lift.

In this interview Curle says we've been knocked back for 2 replacements for Jabo. Both at league one clubs.

mobile.carlisleunited.co.uk/news/article...ntracts-2722269.aspx

Also says Ibehre won't be out for quite as long as 6 - 10 weeks.

Totally unfair remark. I wouldn't say the lad is hated the most. He puts effort in and has qualities as a footballer. I certainly don't hate him or anyone else who puts effort in wearing the Carlisle shirt and I'd be surprised if the majority don't share the same opinion.

Good Captain, good player, good bloke :)

Like everybody last season he had poor games but no more than most - easy target being down the side-lines :(

A crass remark about Grainger.
And disrespectful to him as a man, and as a player.
Wouldn't think anybody hates him.
He's had some stick over the last 12 months.
Some justified.Some not.
But a good player, who loves the club. And an honest bloke.
Gave his all last season while carrying a niggling injury for most of the season.
Hes certainly been much better so far this season.
Hate him? Absolutely not.
Willing him to do better? Yes.Always.
The sort of player who gives his all and wears his love for the club on his sleeve.

I actually rate Grainger, though there are some that go mad at him being in the team even after a win.

From an observational point though he is still the most hated player,

Is that it? That's the huge news?

He's probably one of the league one strikers mentioned on the official site that we've had an approach turned down for.

Grant has always said he wanted to finish his career at Utd this may well be the kat opportunity to do that especially as he has been out of favour now at Wigan even though they have slipped down the leagues.
Question is does he still have anything to offer as a player.

Yeah but they must get their information from somewhere. Anyway it's still the morning, and judging by how long 5 to 10 days have lasted we could be waiting quite some time for an announcement.

To me it looks like Grant Holt has told Radio Cumbria that he is ready now for first team football and he would love to come to Carlisle on loan. Meanwhile KC has said about loan signings, "They’ve got to fit into the ethos of what we’re trying to create at the football club. No player will walk into this club if I didn’t think it was right for the team.”

In other words " Hang on there Grant Holt, it's my decision on who we bring in on loan, good player that you are, you can't just walk in here. I had enough grief with Billy Big Bo**ocks last season without going through all that again"

Possibly

“I think Graham Kavanagh was keen on it,” he says of United’s recently sacked boss. “He definitely would have liked to do it. But I don’t know if he spoke to Wigan. To be honest I’m not sure they could have done it financially. A few were convinced it might happen but it was never really close.”

this was less then a year ago. we have came into a bit of money i guess

The biggest stumbling block in any potential deal would be Nixon. Holt gave him a hard time when he was last on the Tues Radio show, something Nixon is unlikely to forget when it comes to sanctioning the funds for any deal...

Was about to post similar having just watched Curle's interview. By the sounds of it we haven't even made an enquiry. Curle was simply asked by Phillips if Grant Holt would interest him and Curle said something along the lines of he wouldn't rule it out if it came about.

Absolutely nothing in this at all.

Was it not James Phillips own twitter page that he made these announcements, or is it on the official page?

Im due to travel down soon with James, im going to batter him for being a drama queen!!!!

Would be a great signing and very much do able financially believe me, if Curle wants him and we know there is an interest, and we know Holty would probably like it too, then its down to the board to sanction it..............the money is there.
