OK folks, thanks to all those that have contributed towards the Jabo flag. We've had a huge £310 raised so far. The Jabo flag cost a total of £58.67, so if my maths (or calculator) is correct, that leaves us with £251.33 in the kitty. We could get a few more of similar size, or we could go even bigger with 1-2, possibly more depending on further contributions.

I've added a poll to this topic. Please vote, and we'll crack on and get a 2nd flag ordered for starters. Any suggestions, including designs (or descriptions so somebody artistic can design!) would be appreciated.

Paul Arnison was an absolute breast, decent player with a good attitude, but lost his place to a decent full back David Raven.

Wouldn't it be better to email the people who contributed the £310 and ask them to decide what flag they want, seeing as they paid for it?

Could do it that way if they'd prefer? I'm happy leaving the pot open for others to contribute as well though.

I recently sent out an email to everybody who contributed towards the Bastien Hery player sponsorship to discuss an upcoming photo shoot, and received just 2 replies.

I'm happy for the flags to be transient things and go for any of the current team, for those who would like something more permanent I always feel the three peaks of the WRE are pretty unique to us so maybe a silhouette of them with "Take me home Warwick Road" , or is that too much of a cliche?

Would love to see a Mysterious Curle one done well, but what happens when he leaves?

A Jimmy Glass one would be great, it is an iconic moment in not only our clubs history but for lower league in general

Sounds like opinion is going to be split but a Jimmy Glass, a Mysterious Curle and the Shankly quote/pic from the T-shirt would be my 3 choices. It seems like the money would be there for 3 flags at least!

The Jimmy Glass one....seems like we're celebrating mediocrity. Then again, an amazing moment...
I'd prefer Shankly, Ashman, Ross, Baldy, Bridges, a club hero.
Well done on the first one though. Glad he likes it!

I think we should have a few big iconic ones that recognise the history , ground key events.

Arise sir Jimmy one with him in famous arms outstretched pose after scoring .

Building Bridges one

Like the ground ones down above.

'You sit, we stand for cufc' to show off the fact we have more terracing than anyone else.

Love to see them all around the ground to bring colour and life to the ground. They will also cover up all the empty seats and waterworks wasteland

Do you not think actually topping the old division 1 (even briefly) is a better achievement than a keeper scoring to keep us from the [censored] conference :S

not really. so we won the first 3 games and finished rock bottom.

To be fair bluealf you're most famous moment doesn't necessarily have to be your best achievement. Ask people across the country have Carlisle ever topped the football league and most won't know, ask them if a Carlisle goalie ever scored in injury time of the last game to save his team from dropping out the football league and most will know.

Whilst player/manager ones look good, there's not much longevity in them. Should get some generic Club themed ones, and ask Club to tell Away Fans that Waterworks is ours only for flags...

Few ideas:

"BE JUST AND FEAR NOT (Club Badge at end)"

"WIN OR LOSE - UP THE BLUES!"

"THE GREAT BORDER CITY" - Use the Castle as a background, incorporating City Crest

Be great to see some proper long styles banners using the above IMO!

Plenty of teams have been top of the league before, only one has had a terrible goalkeeper score in the last minute of the last game of a season to stop them from being relegated.

Approx prices of a long banner inc delivery.

40ft x 5ft - £165
32ft x 4ft - £140
26ft x 3.2ft - £115

£250 in the kitty. Jabo flag cost short of £60, and is 10ft x 5ft

Between us we have about 10 goods ideas for great flags to start with. I'm happy to keep contributing over the season to get them all.
We can maybe put our message board money to other things in the future to help brighten the ground and make the match going experience a better one.

I went to a Wigan RL match not long ago and they have dozens of flags behind both ends hanging from the roof from all the supporters clubs and pubs etc they look great. Check out Google images.
