Tough one to call this, we're in need of an excellent home performance and convincing win. We are by no means truly comfortable at home yet and we seem almost better suited to playing away. Morecambe are a team I'd love us to hammer but they always seem to play pretty well against us. I'll take any victory but going for a 1-0 even though I really hope we put on the big performance we're due at BP.
Well done Crunchie by the way!! I was thinking yesterday that the team are probably happier playing away from home. I only go to away games but I've noticed that even at Hartlepool and York there are many more negative supporters criticising the players. I can only imagine how bad the atmosphere is at BP. Quite a few of our players are confidence players so when they are away from home they probably are less frightened of making mistakes. Our away fans are concentrated normally behind the goal where we can get some chants going and lift the players. At the end of the game, KC insists the players come over and applaud the fans and the fans return the applause. I think this stronger connection between fans and the players is genuinely helping us to get very much better performances away from home. I'm also thinking when the players return to BP the atmosphere is so different that not only do they not get the lift from the fans but it works negatively resulting in surprisingly bad performances.
We'll see how my theory pans out when we play Northampton and Wycombe where I'm hoping for all 6 points.
