Tbh I did think me being female would be a disadvantage against the other 3 fan rep candidates & some of the questions that were asked during the selection phase confirmed this worry I had. But I'm pleased I was utterly wrong!!

No, 10 very excitable boys. There weren't any girls at the U8 age level at the club's soccer school (Crusaders). Most teams have 7/8 players in their squad as it's 5v5 at this age but the maximum is 10. There were 10 boys desperate to play so we signed up 10! Yday after our match & penalties they did a massive pile on. I couldn't tell you what the score was. They love it & have found some mates that'll last forever. That's what football at this age should be about!

I have never seen a female official in men's grass roots football, never thought about it before but it is strange as I think they would be welcomed into the game by the players.
